Where to camp in Ruidoso NM

Our favorite campground Bonito Hollow RV Park north of Ruidoso NM unfortunately was burned a couple of months ago and the park lost everything, they will eventually rebuild. But in the meantime we need a place to camp near Ruidoso NM, does anyone have any recommendations? We live in Lubbock TX and the mountains of Ruidoso are only 5.5 hours away great place to escape from the west TX heat. If you have any other favorite places in the mountains with 4-6 hours from Lubbock we are open for suggestions. We do not have generators but could buy some if boon-docking is the what most of you suggest.

I don't have any recommendations for you, but sorry to hear Bonito hollow burned. We were there last summer and enjoyed the stay.

Have only stayed in Ruidoso once. It was at Riverside RV Park. If you need to be in town, it's a good location. Mostly seasonal and annual sites. We didn't like it at all. Creepy. Hard to explain. We felt like new items on a menu. It may have been they guy sitting all night on his porch with the binoculars.

We stayed a couple of nights at Elk Run Cabins & RV. Nice little park at north end of town by Airport Road. It's small, quiet and shaded.

I reccommend Oliver Lee State Park south of Alamogordo (towards El Paso). Great views of Tularosa Basin and White Sands, and very quiet.

Oliver Lee Memorial State Park

If you need to be in Alamogordo, White Sands Community has both 30 and 50 amp connections, but the 30 Amp side has more shade. White Sands Community is off 54 Highway, behind the Walmart. That is where I have been more or less permanent since last September.

I don't have any reccomendations for Ruidoso, but am certainly interested in what other's have to say! Happy camping...
