Where to camp close to Portland Oregon???

I am anticipating taking my trailer out for a trial run after the current renovations are completed. I want something kind of close to home (besides the driveway!), in case I have problems. A 'pull through' would be great!

I am thinking that some places will require reservations (I am totally new to this), so I am trying to plan ahead. If I can find something close enough, I might even go and do a little visit prior to towing the trailer there.

Thanks, Pam (very near Portland Oregon)

Hi Pam,

Welcome! There are several nice State Parks along the Columbia River, from Portland going east towards Hood River. Wade and I stayed at one on the south side of the Freeway, but it didn't have pull throughs. You can go online and look at the Oregon State Parks. They have park maps and you can reserve one with pull throughs if you like. We were really impressed with the showers in the Oregon parks. They are Hot and Free. It is very beautiful through there with nice hiking trails if your interested in that sort of thing. Hope that helps.

Enjoy!
Pam, too

Hey Pam,

Head out into the Gorge and you'll find a few nice spots.

There is Viento State Park between Hood River and Cascade Locks.

The KOA in Cascade Locks has pull-thrus and is nicely set up.

There is the Bridge RV Park in Bingen, WA just over the Hood River bridge that has pull-thrus and

Memaloos State Park just West of The Dalles is also nice.

You shouldn't need reservartions at this time of year.

Have a Blast!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Pam and Lew

Well, it looks like I should head out the gorge! Thanks, for the help. I won't be doing this until sometime in May when I anticipate I will get my trailer back. I am having withdrawals...even though I haven't used it much, it has been sittiing in my driveway right outside the window by my computer for a couple of years. I miss looking at it and daydreaming....
