Northern route through Yellowstone to Casper WY
We had an unexpected need to go back to MT earlier this month, and on way home decided to go down through Chico Hotsprings in MT this past week. We took the Northern route from Gardner to Casper and luckily the highway was open. Only campgrounds open were at the entrance, but the drive was spectacular! No traffic at all this time of year. We will come back through next summer when we have more time.

Yes, the Buffalo was on the highway inside Yellowstone, about 20 min. outside Gardner, and he was not in the mood to chat.  The mountain scene was taken on bear tooth highway, outside of Cook City, heading toward Cody on 296 to 120. We stopped just over a bridge which spanned a deep gorge with a big pullout restroom scenic spot. Very picturesque views for sure. it was just before Dead Indian Pass I believe. Very windy going up and down I remember.

I was parked at that tunnel one day and a group of bighorn walked across the road right in front of me, as close as three feet. Beautiful animals, beautiful park.
