Where are you going for Memorial Day Weekend?

Looks like the weather Gods are going to be nice to us (for most of the country) for the weekend! Where are ya'll planning on camping? Liz and I will be at Jersey Shore Haven Airstream Park (never did an "Airstream only" park before, should be very cool). We'll be pulling in Friday evening and heading out Monday mid-day. This is the first outing for the Arg with her fresh paint!

Beverly Beach.
Right smack up against the beach. Off A1A north of Daytona. Can't wait to sleep with the sound of surf.

Headed To An Airstream Park Too

Bob,
We are also headed an Aistream Park, PENN WOOD AIRSTREAM PARK. We have a permanent lease on a site there. We keep our '87 (Savannah) there.

You will like the Jersey Shore Haven Airstream Park. We stayed there a few years ago, during the last hurricane that went through. We had a great time in spite of the weather. If memory serves me correctly it was also on a Memorial Day weekend, or was it Labor Day?

We have also been to the Virginia Highland Haven Airstream Park, which is beautiful.

We liked all three, but prefer Penn Wood and Virginia over New Jersey. Probably because we are more woods type people than shore type people

Freeland Maryland...

Hi,

We will be at our year-around site at Morris Meadows Campground located in Freeland, MD (about 1 mile south of the Pennsylvania line).

Supposed to be super-nice weather (finally) this weekend so we are going to bring the bikes along and there are miles and miles of nice trails to ride on from where they converted an old railway line to a trail.

Should be nice.

regards, Dave & Shari

I am going to Area 63, my shop, and work on Airstreams. My local area gets very busy on holidays, I'd rather hide in the shop and work than deal with the traffic and crowds. Will have a bbq Sunday, though.

We just spent the past two week-ends (with additional days) in two of Ohio's beautiful state parks. The first was our MAIDEN voyage in our new AS - glad to have that over. Now, we feel more like experienced Airstreamers - and know what to do when the simplest of situations arise. Since we just returned home yesterday, we will spend Memorial Day weekend at home - our policy since we first married - let the crazies have the highways on holiday weekends. Since the weather looks to be nice, we'll spend some time in our flower garden and doing other tasks around the house. When things settle down, we'll return to the highways and 'streaming. See you then!

Freeland Maryland...

Hi Dietz645...

Not sure if we will be up there in Sept, but the Bambi should be at least... I have a "Harley road trip" planned for this fall of 6,500 miles so will see if I am back by then or not. My original plan was to have Shari drive the truck and tow the Airstream along so I would have all my creature comforts, but she just rolled her eyes and said "no"... she ain't no truck driver... So I am just taking my tent and sleeping bag and hitting the road... I am sure I will appreciate the Bambi much more when I get back.

I think we are the only Airstream that is on a site year-around at Morris Meadows although there are a couple Airstreams in the long-term storage lot every now and then. We are on site A-57 which is sort of up the hill behind the main office. The nice trail starts about a mile away from the campground entrance and goes to "Gunpowder Falls" and is worth hiking/biking on it. There are also horses riding down the same trail sometimes.

regards, Dave

Temporary Boondocking

Here in the south I'll be at Hard Labor Creek State Park near Rutledge, GA with nvestysly and ALANSD from the forums.

I pulled in last night and set up hearing thunder to the west. Then it hit. Serious stuff with strong frontline winds. Serious as in hunkering down in the concrete bath house until it was over serious. Many trees were snapped off in the middle or blown down completely and the campground lost power. Miraculously, no one hurt and every camper undamaged in spite of trees falling on all sides of them.

Power's back on now. And I've heard the weather will be great this weekend.

Dacia, Ya'll have a great time there. I'll be in Roan Mountain, TN at the State Park. It's a great place with elevation that makes for nice cool weather.
