What? Really?

I want to think you meant that to be tongue in cheek but without one of those goofy smiley faces, I have to assume you mean what you said.

To that point I would say yes, you should have stuck with your principle of not saying anything if there's nothing nice to say. You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but what value is there in telling someone you think their work is ugly when not asked?

And since beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I'll chime in with my $0.02 and say I think those wheels (and the whole ggoat rig) is gorgeous. Not that anyone cares or has asked my opinion either.

Back to our regularly scheduled shenanigans.

Can white wall tires carry a load? Are those from Coker tire?

Wheel snapped off in the Keys

I clicked the link on the painted wheels and got a cabinet thread.

But I think I know what wheels were supposed to have been shown, if so, IMHO they look bitchin, totally cool in my book. (Missing hubcap thread?)

Aluminum wheels have become passé in my view, many of them are over the top and downright gawdy.

White walls can carry a load if they are load rated.

Diamondback also carries a line of white walls.

I'm not a whitewall car kinda fellow. I just assumed reproduction whitewalls were a parade restore type tire.

Coker makes from scratch whitewalls, I don't know is they make a set that is load rated, probably not, but I have a set of Cokers on my 55 Lincoln that were made in 05, they are good tires and I drive the car at highway speed without trepidation.

Diamondback converts tires to whitewall, my son runs a set on his 64 Falcon, they are good tires too.

I'm a big Comer fan. I can find tires there that just don't exist elsewhere. Thought of getting a set of 15" bias plys for my Excella.

I have ordered these new wheels for our Airstream for when we get back home; I think it will make good style statement.

4 on the floor... all set to travel again!

BTW, we had a visitor in our campsite today...

Brad,

When you run out of ice, sunscreen and bizarre stories its time to go home.

Can't wait to see the AS with your new wheels. Gonna put hydraulics on it too and make it hop a bit with a remote control?

Iggy was looking for scraps or burnt tourists, he knows the drill.

We're leaving the keys tomorrow... hope we don't leave anything more than a sewer hose or something. Wish us luck, and thanks for all your support (moral and otherwise), margaritas, and technical advice. Couldn't have done it as well without you all!

We'er leaving Thursday. As a next day tail gunner we will pick up any spare parts you leave on the roadside. Will also have the margaritas at the ready just in case.
BTW if your getting the new wheels and hydraulics you gotta go all in and get the low rider dingle balls, purple running lights, and shag carpet.

Safe travels

I am glad Lance has the stuff to say the truth. I used to, but refrain from saying what I really feel these days.
The blue wall with the white wall and all that blue just make that rim gaudy.

Random thought...anyone know how a Nascar tire change is done? That process doesn't look very precise...does the wrench they use always tighten to the correct value?
Ha, love it Alumaminum! I never had lugs though with issues like this on my cars- just in my limited experience doing my own rotating etc. I agree though that it should not be so riddled with technicalities.

My shop did not do these rims even though we did change out the axles.

This is a Frank's Trailer Work special. Double silver pinstripes on a black powder coated rim, topped off with a baby moon.

love those black rims Frank. All that kind of stuff is a matter of taste of course. Some don't like polished trailers.
How does the powder coating hold up?

Or on further observation, are those pictures just selfies?

I'm with you, Frank--understated vintage elegance is always my preference rather than having everything that is possible. But although that is just personal taste, it just goes to show that your taste and mine is better than others'!!
