What's your favorite east coast beach to visit?

Hello All,

We are planning on taking a vacation in july. We want to go to the beach somewhere on the east coast. We like Myrtle Beach but are wondering if there is some other nice beach to visit. Can someone tell us your favorite beach and campground where you like to stay?

If you haven't booked something at a state park by now you may have a tough time getting a spot at a beach with such short notice--they fill up long in advance but you may check for a spot created by a cancellation and get lucky.
We are always partial to Hunting Island. It is a state park off Beaufort, SC. It is a 5000 acre island largely in its natural state. We will be there in early July for a week.

my vote is also hunting island, or ocracoke island. but in hunting , youll be right on the beach...

Edisto state park is also nice but hard to get beachfront reservations. Huntington Beach state park, near Myrtle Beach is super.

have a look at ocean city MD, as well as assategue and chincoteague islands in Virginia near the Maryland border. . . beautiful beaches as well as wild ponies that swim the surf . . .
