This is pretty cool, it could be like a guest house for friends when they stop by. I imagine it has a nice price tag to go with it?

But there are some places you just can't take your Airstream...
like Punalu'u Black Sand Beach, Big Island, HI (next to a sea turtle.)

Just kiding.. Actually, I would look for a pop-up.. We had a Rockwood Pop-up for close to 15 yrs. It had shower, toilet, furnace, fridge.. Cheap, just not the same as a AS..

T@b is a nice li'l trailer, but it ain't for tall folks. The one I sat in would work if I moved around in it on my knees. I'm 5' 17" though...

Well I was going to pass on the idea of getting a non-Airstream trailer to tide us over for the next two summers, but after absolutely no luck in finding a trailer camp-able in my price range, and my son almost crying when I said we wouldn't likely be camping this summer have me back looking at this option. This summer break will be the only family time together other than a month over next Christmas...we have to camp!

Many people think I am crazy, but seeing how many people on this thread have commented on their back-up trailers I know I am right for the family.

Currently looking at two teardrops. One is a 3 sleeper, and the other would require fabricating a way to add a tent along the side to increase space. Let me know what you all know of out there.

Steve

if necessary, we'll use our 1963 serro scotty sportsman-cute, only sleeps 2 (and the dog!), but has a toilet! Works for me!

Hey steve, have you looked at buying a damaged or repo'ed camper? Try any auction places near you, I have purchased quite a few of these over the years as a way of funding our camping trips.Buy in the spring , fix it up and camp through the summer and sell early fall and I usually made a profit.
Just a thought, good luck.
Doug

Yep my dream is to have a Scotty and a 15" Shasta on our property next to my Metzendorf here in Alaska.... Or in Louisiana.

A 1973 Compact II ,that I'm just about finished with. Then there is a '66 Sahsta that's sitting in my shop waiting to be restored. After that it is Best Western and finally the tent.

There's a trailer in Elizabethtown, KY that I would like to have someone inspect. If anyone is nearby, please PM me.
