If you like astronomy or have any interest what so ever plus have an iPhone 3GS with the compass and GPS... downlown "Star Walk" at $5ish. As you move your iPhone around like you were using it as a camcorder on the sky... it will show you what you are looking at in a graphical way. *Very* Cool.
Afternatively, you could point it at the ground to view what China is seeing. ;^)
Great suggestions, can't wait to download some of these.
In lieu of real musical instruments to play around the campfire, try "Harmonica" (fools eight year olds, drunks, and your mom), and "More Cowbell", which also can be set to maracas, triangle, tambourine, or sleigh bells, for holiday singalongs!
Janet,
You can take a screen-shot from iTunes. When you synch. I've been obsessing on Lose It! (a humbling experience) and WeatherBug. Think we'll get RV CheckList. This is a great thread. What I want is an app to set up the DirectTV dish. I think I can do it anyway with the compass and iHandy Level (free version).

I came across a few to set up Dishes - but have no experience with them.
Dish Pointer Augmented Reality may be worth looking at...
And thanks for the dope slap moment on the screen shot question - of course that would be the opportunity to do a screenshot
I knew that - really, I did.

Process to take an iPhone Screenshot:
1. Hold Down Sleep Button and Home Button as the same time
2. Screen will flash White
3. Image is saved to your Images as a .png
4. E-mail or download to your computer like any other image
That’s it!

And Shazam is a miracle. Hear a song on the radio and can't remember who sang it or what the title is? Run Shazam- it listens to it and tells you what the song is, who sang it and what album it's on! Amazing.
