What length do I use for a campground measurement?

I am looking to take my 68 Overlander to a California State Beach. It has spot available for a 24 foot trailer. I know Airstream lengths are quoted from bumber to ball. From what I understand SOBs aren't. Mine is a 26 footer. So what do I use for my length, just the body? The body is less than '24.

While I am not an advocate of misleading the campground owner, I would want to stay there if it as beautiful as I imagine. I would say the trailer is 23 feet, as that is the size of the shell. many site limits are set to be sure that the trailer and associated tow vehicles can be parked on the site without a problem. As long as you fit most CG owners or managers will not say a word and take your money happily

Thanks Brett.

I called to ask them where to measure from and the guy said don't worry about it. Just tell them what size it is when you get here. I hope he is working when we get there. $20 on the beach, full hookups. Not bad.

TBKP,

What beach? We have camped at San Clemente, Dana Point, El Capitan, and a few others.

We were camping in South Lake Tahoe. They had an economy site for 20' rigs.

Our Safari is stated as 23' which I told them. They said to try the spot if was too small they would move me. Well, we fit perfectly, with room to spare.

So, our 23' AS = 20' SOB.

BTW my truck is also 23'

Someone asked if I thought I had a big enough truck to tow my trailer. I asked if there was such thing as *too big* a truck!

San Elijo SB http://www.parks.ca.gov/default.asp?page_id=662

It looks pretty nice. I've never been there. About 25 miles north of San Diego. They have some full hookupd. That's about all my wife will go for.

Doesn't San Clemente have full hookups?

We have stayed a few times at Canyon RV in Anaheim. Not on the beach but it's pretty nice.

BTW, our 26' Overlander shell measured 23'.

You shouldn't have any trouble getting an O'lander into San Elijo. It's been years since I've been there, but there spaces are pretty easy to get into, and the O'lander should fit just fine.
