Great.. I had told my wife earlier in the week, that it looked like gas prices were finally coming down. We were driving in to St Louis from Jonesboro Ark, and some of the stations south of St Louis were below $2.20..

I guess enough people have moved to Colo from CA, that they can raise prices out there, and folks still think they are getting a deal. (Just kidding)

Welcome to the west coast, maybe even California, where Mobil regular this morning, came down AGAIN.

Yeah, it's only $ 3.69 a gallon.

I use gas buddy.com or gasprices.mapquest.com
as their prices are usually up to date within 24 hours so more meaningful than posts on this thread.

Yeah, I use gasbuddy, but it is nice to see what other people are paying across the continent.

If you have no need for the thread, there are plenty of tire threads that need your help!

$2.209 by my house, but I always get 10 cents off per gallon with my mapco express card, so I paid $2.109 per gallon today in Little Rock.

Shell, Diberville, MS ethanol free $2.35. My JGC Hemi runs very good on this blend. It can be hard to find on the road. I have not been able to find any gas apps that list it.

Ouch! I think I'd buy a hybrid something if I lived out there. It ticks me off to spend $50 at the pump, let alone $100.. Is that just gas tax, or collusion on the part of the suppliers and stations?
I have a small 6 cyl in my daily driver. It'll go close to 500 miles on 15 gallons. Keeps the miles off of the pick up..

Chicago Exxon refinery went back on line a few days ago and our prices in the metro STL area started plummeting. Various QT stations now around $1.99. With crude in the $39-$40 a barrel range we could see $1.79 eventually by fall as the refiners dump the summer stock and move to winter blends. Summer blends required for EPA standards in our neck of he woods can add a dime a gallon to the price.

I had heard that for my area also, but I figured it was just your basic price gouging during the summer tourist season.

I think the excuses come when prices are raised for issues that don't affect local supplies. In today's market, refined gasoline is no longer universal. This means that if you live in a large metro area, your gasoline is refined locally due to EPA regs. These boutique blends can't be used by other markets. So for example the Exxon refinery shutdown in the Chicago area sent a $.25 per gallon spike in the St Louis area. Were we suddenly shifting our gas to Chicago? Nope. We have our own local refinery and the gas produced here doesn't meet Chicago EPA standards. Only if those standards are suspended, can gas blended for another market be used. So the price is jumped by the wholesalers but not due to our supply being compromised. With gas, the law of supply and demand is very blurred and in many cases is purely speculative and at the whim of the wholesaler.

$2.15 for diesel in Ozark, MO. Funny, the convenience store/gas station is on a major highway while another major chain convenience just a mile down the road was $2.35 which is more normal around here.
