We had our local station wait at least 5 shipments before they finally lowered their prices. We literally hit a full buck a gallon more then Reno (110 miles away). Normally we're about .50 cents more then Reno.
If anyone rolls through Reno on 80. Best prices are usually on USA parkway at Golden Gate fuel( about 20 minutes east of Reno). Next best if the Love's in Fernley right off of 80 (half hour east of Reno). Those are always cheaper then Reno.

Taxes are not a big part of the price and pay (in part) for the roads we use to get to the gas station. The guy who owns or leases a gas station is often as much a victim as we are.

The photo below is located at a Valero station here in Monterey, Ca. that I've been buying fuel at for more than 15 years. For the past 20 months, the cost of diesel has been consistently .45-.47 cents higher than regular unleaded. The margin between them is shrinking. BTW diesel hasn't been under $4.00 here for a very long time, which I burn my share of it.
I'm not feeling the pinch of the increase as much as the gasser group, but does make for conservative driving.
Hi, I usually buy my Premium fuel at the local Shell station, but lately the local Unocal "76" station was $.04 cheaper. [only two blocks farther away] Not that I really can't afford it, but the Lincoln mostly sits and we take my wife's BMW X-3 when ever we go anywhere together. The BMW gets about twice the gas mileage of the Lincoln. I also have a motor scooter and rarely use it. All three vehicles take Premium fuel. I bought a new bicycle to ride now; It's not because of the cost of fuel, but more likely because of the extra weight that I acquired for several legitimate excuses.

Regular unleaded $4.29 9/10 a gallon today at the gas station near our home. We gassed up four days ago in San Leandro and regular was $3.93 9/10 a gallon.
I heard an interview with the guy from Gasbuddy.com who said that whatever gas prices were in mid January , you should add at least .80 to that by summer. That means 4.50 - 5.00. Prices that high will really affect the economy. It will certainly affect where we go camping this year.
Gas in Grand Junction yesterday was $3.06-3.09 at the cheapest stations. With a 10˘ discount, we paid $2.99. Since food prices keep going up, we get the gas discount quicker, a dubious benefit.
Wholesale gas Friday was $3.15 on the NYC fuel market.

Regular unleaded bumped another .04 cents last night. At this rate, diesel may become cheaper than regular unleaded which hasn't happen in decades!
If you can get diesel for under $4.00 bucks in the Phoenix area, you're doing well. Oddly, the truck stops are not the cheapest anymore; Frys and Safeway (with their cards) seem to beat them, big time. Not looking forward to three fuel stops when we head north next month.
You folks in the southwest are lucky, our new price for regular yesteray was in the $3.65 to $3.69 range. The cheapest was Sam's at $3.45. Glad to hear the Colorado and NM prices as we are headed out that way in August.......but who knows what they will be then.

About the best price I could find with GasBuddy for regular unleaded was $4.21 this morning! Maybe could have saved a few cents, but didn't want to risk having to push the Jeep for it. I have 5 gallons in my generator fuel can from just weeks ago that cost $3.69...
