Here in the metro STL area were are down to about $3.55. You know the thing though that has continued to surprise me is the $.70 per gallon premium paid for diesel. I just shake my head in disbelief that the lower sulfur fuel has added that much to the cost of production. It's almost as if the oil companies knew that the diesel users just don't have an alternative. At least with us gas guys, we can limit our use of our gas vehicles since we aren't using them full time for business needs.

The diesel folks however don't have much choice and if you are a business, or a trucker, or farmer to name a few, you are screwed.

Jack, it isn't the low sulphur diesel, it's a shortage of diesel. We can get gas from Europe, but not diesel. They use all their diesel because they have a lot of diesel cars and have an excess of gasoline which they export here. If diesel cars start selling here, the shortage will get worse. The low sulphur refining may contribute, but I don't think it's the main reason.

I'm with Jack on this one. I've seen a $.30/gallon drop in gasoline since I got back from vacation over the 4th but diesel is the same price it was the day I got back.

$3.45 today.

Interesting though, at the same station yesterday, price started at 3.51 in the morning, then dropped to 3.49 at mid-day then to 3.45 by nightfall.

On the way back from Tucson today, the AT station had regular unleaded for $3.54. That's the lowest I've seen in I can't remember when.

The Shell just up the street has it at $3.73 and that's the lowest I've seen in the Phoenix metroplex.

I keep reading about dropping prices but we've had no break yet in the mountains. Still at $3.99 in Dillon, and $4.22 in Edwards where I work. I'm going to Denver Thursday and understand that it's dropped to the $3.70 range there. It's always great the way we're 20-30 cents higher during tourist seasons and match the Denver area in the off season.

On my trip to Salida for the RMVAC from Phoenix I found the highest prices in Colorado. $4.19 for regular just east of Wolf Creek Pass and the lowest at the Flying J in Winslow $3.77 for regular gas. Colorado seems to be on average 20 cents per gallon higher then Arizona.

$3.759 in the Golden area just off I-70. Probably cheaper in other parts of metro Denver, but we needed gas badly at the moment. Charlie's right—prices in the resort areas are still high. Glenwood Springs was $4.229, 3 cents lower than 3 weeks ago. If you're crossing Colorado on I-70, gas up in Grand Jct. or Denver, never in the mountains.

Things are finally going in the direction of the consumer.... yesterday morning our local in the middle of the woods station for regular went from $3.99 in the morning to $3.93 on the way home, this morning it was $3.89! If we see this trend on our way to PEI tomorrow our cost for fuel on the way up will go from $314.00 to $287.00! Ya hooooooo.
