So, the government tries to help us, hauls the execs into a committee meeting, asks why the disparity in the fuel prices, Gas Vs Diesel, Gas goes up 20 cents Diesel 10 cents. And that helped?
Some day they will in the end pay..........
Yeah, they'll pay. For another politician and lobbying firm.

My wife points out we are the oil tribe (I think she read it somewhere). When our totems (oil well derricks I guess), start to run dry, we attack other tribes or buy them off with something we make. A lot of what we make now are treasury bonds.
So gather around the pump and throw our belongings at it so we may travel. It's part of the national character.
We love traveling on two lane blacktop, seeing remote places up close, meeting people in different parts of N. America—and we hate feeding the oil beast (which may be us).
This is hard to reconcile. Maybe we can weld 4 Prius's or 2 Highlanders together as a tow vehicle.
Well, diesel today was $4.55! Oh well the good ol' days are over, but we won't stop travelin'. Americans are spoiled though when it comes to the cost of fuel. Check out what others around the world have been paying for years! When I was going to school in England way back then the price of gas was four times what I payed at home in the USA! I guess we were just lucky till now. Todays petrol in London was 1.04 pounds per Liter, 3.79 L to a gallon, exchange rate today 1.04=$2.049, so a gallon of gas is $7.765! I was talking with my friend Pete the other day and he paid over $200 USA to fill his Ford TV in Kent. Ouch!

Ouch! And I was getting ready to rant about diesel here in midMissouri hitting $4 today. Okay, I'll just mumble my rant quietly while I slip away. ..~G

Hit the road now and really enjoy these "low" fuel prices, because the real shock, $10/gal. gas, is coming. Just look at some of these old posts and look at what the Europeans have paid all along. Comparatively, Americans are still getting "cheap" fuel. There's the whole issue of supply and demand, and dare I mention impending Peak Oil? The media doesn't dare bring it up. For future generations, leisure travel may be of little concern as the store shelves are empty and folks get back to growing food locally.
In Connecticut this morning at our little Sunoco who usually has fair prices, Reg. $3.45 and I think he rean out of numbers because there was no price on the diesel.

For last 2 summers have I NEVER let mine go below 1/2 tank, as it makes me along with the hart can not take it. I now also do shorter trips and stay longer in one place and have just as much fun and give less $$$ to Foreign countries , BIG OIL comp and our owen BIG Government (GAS TAX)all of which like us only for are $$$$$$$$$$$$$$. I was out 170+ days last year in my BIG Ford V10 Excursion and squarestream and loved it all but the gas $$. I am old as I can remember gas at less than .30 cents per gal.But I could only afford to buy $1 worth at a time, but that got me and my girl to the back row of the drive in movie.
