$4.65/diesel... just filled up today. Same price 2 weeks ago, despite $4.69 down the street... still, tankfull was over $115... that was after having to re-swipe the card after the $75 "limit"...

darn.... I don't get it. I had to take the truck to New Jersey yesterday to make a sales call with one of my saleman. Regular pump your own at the Shell Station at home was $4.69 and 57 miles away in NJ it was $4.03 and by law they have to pump the gas. What's up with that?

Reg is 4.33/9 here in northern NY and diesel just dropped to 4.98/9. Price Chopper (food market) is doing the same thing here with participating SUNOCO stations.

So last Tuesday I'm at the stoplight, waitin' for my turn arrow to green up.
Across the street they're resetting the sign from 3.92 to 4.19.
I look at the guy in the Trailblazer next to me. His windows are open and he's on the phone. When he hangs up, he looks at the sign, then at my ride.
"At least you get better mileage with the windows open," I offer.
"That's what I ought to be doin'," he counters and he points at the 40 odd pounds of straight gauge carbon steel constituting the '64 Schwinn that's my ride to work today.
"Yeah, maybe." my light turns, and I'm away.

it looks like a SHELL game to me. could the ramping up of heating oil production be a factor?

I heard on the news today that the prices of fuel might drop a lot after the olympics start in Aug. China has been buying up all the oil for the event so they will have plenty. They will stop buying after the olympics start and use what they have which will drive DOWN the price.
Also fuel consumption dropped 5% this week which will have an effect also. YEA!

Fuel here in East Tennessee has dropped only a few pennies and is hovering around 3.85-3.88.
You know something Kani, I remember in Michigan putting fuel in my dads welder and truck at 12.9 cents and him complaining then about how high the price of fuel is.

$4.019 with the 10¢ discount at City Market in Delta, Colo. So, the Tundra is on fumes from coming back from Denver last Sunday, so we go to the next town (18 miles) for a meeting and to get 3 gallons so we can get to the City Market (31 more miles) and get the discount. We fill the tank and a 5 gallon gas can, go to Montrose to get some other stuff (20+ miles from Delta), drive home (about 65 miles), ordering another 5 gallon can when we stop at the Carquest store on the way, and now probably could empty the 5 gallons into the Tundra. So, 134 or more miles at about 16.5 mpg = 8.12 gal. x 4.019 = $32.64 to get some gas, some food, some odds and ends and order another gas can so I can buy gas 20¢ "cheaper" than around here. Every time I fill a can, I save $1.00. The whole trip felt crazy to me today. Living out in rural western Colorado burns a lot of gas. A lot of people in rural America have low incomes and these prices are very hard on them. So, what are we complaining about?

I read a story recently that showed gas prices now with inflation taken into account are lower than in the years around 1980. Feel better?
