Here in South Metro Atlanta Reg was $2.589 on Friday. Diesel was still $2.799. It's great to have another refinery on-line. Are there any others down that could come back on-line soon? I'd love to see $2.399 in our community by Halloween and maybe another refinery would get the price back to less than $2.00! One can still hope can one?

We used to have the cheapest gas in the state here in Metro Atlanta. Georgia also used to have the cheapest gas in the country. Now that we have the "new" gas tax rate that's a thing of the past.

I'm glad to see someone is getting a great price on gasoline. I had heard that Augusta had some great prices a couple of weeks ago. $.27 a gallon cheaper though is a big difference between the two areas. Maybe it's because Atlanta is supposed to be in better economic shape than other parts of the state? Either way, I still think it's a racket.

Monday morning the Race Trac where I get on the interstate for my morning commute was $2.609. When I came back by Monday afternoon on the way home the same station had jumped to $2.689! The Chevron I pass had gone from $2.639 to $2.719 so it wasn't just that one station. What gives? I'm sure "they" will say it's because of the hurricanes in the Gulf causing evacuations of the oil drilling platforms and the flooding in Houston, but you know that oil won't come out of the refineries and onto the market as gasoline and diesel for another 3-6 months. Also, after Katrina, the refineries in Houston revamped their earthen dikes and flood proof gates so they wouldn't have that kind of issues again. Again, what gives?

I believe it's the law in New Jersey. While passing through there a while back. I stopped at some kind of huge convenience type store for gas, and this guy approaches the truck and asks for my credit card and what type of gas. I was a bit surprised because it's been about 20 years since anyone pumped my gas in Delaware. I also recall the gas being 10 cents per gallon cheaper than home.

It is also the law in Oregon. My sister-in-law lives there and the gas is no more expensive there than anywhere else. It seems that one of the southwest states also has a law banning self-serve. Can't remember which one.

Well, after the price jumping from $2.609 to $2.689 on Monday, the price fell to $2.639 Wednesday afternoon at the Race Trac where I get on the interstate for my commute to work. This is after a steady decline for three weeks.

I think the gasoline suppliers, whether it be the stations or the post refinery distributors were just using the Hurricane Erin and Hurricane Dean excuse to raise the price. But we all know that there is no immediate affect on supply. The affect comes much later. Yes there has been flooding in Houston, but the refineries there have implemented special flood proofing measures to guard against flooding during such hurricanes and other storms. Also, the affect was minimal because of the hurricane's paths. None of the excuses held up.

Yakima Washington area cheapest is Costco at $2.69. Chevron $2.85. Diesel $3.09. Six weeks ago diesel and regualr unleaded were the same price?????

I am like the rest of you I like to know what fuel prices are all over but I am about to give up checking and slow down (mph). In this day and age the cheapest fuel is the fuel you Don't use. I have a relative who pulls a 25' Safari with a 3/4 ton Ford RC 4X4 V-10 gas Automatic Transmission. He just got back from a trip to North Carolina with some interesting documentation on fuel mileage. HE is an engineer....and keeping accurate records of things is in his blood so I believe what he tells me. He was in a hurry to get there from Spokane Washington To Charlott NC. Anyway to make a long story not so boring..lol. Driving hard....speed limit and beyond to get there for a funeral...he Averaged 8.9 mpg. Comming back He took his time and did a lot of sight seeing and maintained NO more and 60 mph and HE told me his basic speed was 55 mph on the interstates when He could do it without getting run over. HE averaged 12.3 comming home. Now this is in an 2008 Ford with a gas V-10. NOT bad for a gas motor. His best day was accross the mid west at night with NO traffic on interstate 80 He aveaged 14.1 for the day. Just shows ya....you can slow down and get food fuel mileage with gas motors pulling and AS.
