How do they justify a price that high? Are the refining costs higher? I doubt it, plus you surely can import it cheaper than that.
So, is it just a tax, to keep driving to a minimum? To reduce pollution?
$9.34 a gallon would be a problem here. We are just too spread out..

Parts of the Highlands and Islands pay more than that. The dream is that all the tax will go to Scotland if independence happens. No chance of that so we are stuck with these prices ( this is with 0.02 off a litre ).

I'd really like to go to a diesel, but the price difference is too much.
Plus my last three Toyotas have run to 250,000 miles without a hiccup.
Will they ever fix it? It's cheaper to make diesel, right?

As a former geologist for 25 years I can tell you diesel will never be cheap again when it is in such worldwide demand. It powers all those container ships bringing in your spinach from South America, all those China, India, and thousands of other globally produced things we Americans buy.
We export diesel and liquified natural gas.
Can we fix it? Yes. Buy local when possible.
