Hi, while traveling across this country, we are paying less than $3.00 per gallon for 87 octane Regular. I'm used to seeing "87 - 89 - 91" octane on the pumps, but found some with 85 and 85.5 as regular and 86, 87, and 89 as mid grade.

Same gas... different states calculate the octane rating differently is all... or sometimes because of blends for air quality in that particular area...

Actually, the method of calculating Octaine is universal. Octaine additives are solely to retard the combustion of fuel so that the explosion occurs at the proper time in the power cycle. Lower octaine is required to prevent pre-detonation at high altitudes, hence regular become 85 octaine in the Rocky Mountain west.

Back to the VW Westfalia!

Time to sell the Tundra Airstream combo, and go back to the VW camper bus.

At the recommendation of my Jeep mechanic I filled up with Shell "no ethanol added" reg gas for $2.87 @gallon. Purpose was to blow out the system after having new plugs installed and a complete cleaning and recalibration of the fuel system processor.

If I was running a gasser I'd be using the locator

for trip planning.

Crude and wholesale gas prices have been going down, but in Grand Jct., prices are going up. $2.63 at Bradley, up to $2.79 elsewhere.

The prices everywhere go up as crude price goes down.
They're robbing us.

For 87 Octane.

Hi, I just paid $2.50/9 at a Phillips 66 station. I saw as low as $2.42/9 at a Mickey Mouse gas station.

If your going to visit California, fill up and up before you get here.

Regular at Mobil $ 4.39 yes $ 4.39 and that's not a typo.

Hi, I usually say that I only buy my gas at name brand gas stations; And that I don't, and won't, buy my gas from Joes Dairy, Costco, Arco, Vons, Albertsons, Or any no-name or market gas stations. [Mickey Mouse gas stations] My experience working at new car dealers has shown me what cheap gas will do to your vehicle. I also, because of this, never change my vehicle's fuel filters; With one exception, I changed the fuel filter in my Lincoln after our Alaska trip due to the admittance of gas station owners stating that gas in Alaska is bad. One lady told me that she put gas in her own car, from her own gas pump, and had her car towed to a garage for expensive repairs.
