Reg 3.49 Santa Rosa, Ca it's funny how refineries always seem to have problems when gas prices get low.

I saw a report that Saudi Arabia is predicting the price of oil/barrel will be under $100 for the next decade. They estimate $75/barrel in 2025.

However, this won't stop states like the one I live in, Missouri to try to raise gas taxes. We voted down by 60% a 3/4 cent sales tax on gas recently. Now the Missouri legislature is trying to pass a 2 cent per gallon tax incrementing 2 cents each year to 6 cents.

Diesel in North Carolina

Currently at a Sheetz station in High Point, the diesel is $2.599. This is unusual for NC as we have high taxes. But it makes filling my auxiliary tank less painful.

Looking at

http://www.findfuelstops.com/?gclid=...FQpgswodjU6amQ

which gives the diesel prices on any route you want, it appears I will be paying more than $0.20 per gallon more on my trip in a couple days.

Around $2.50 here in LA (lower Alabama). They say the going up is normal this time of year so they can gouge the summer travelers.

Gas about $2.89
Diesel about $3.19

While gas has gone up significantly in the past month or so, diesel has been steady since early February.

Why? Because people are willing to pay that much. It's the free market in action. I expect by the end of the summer the price of fuel will be back up around the level it was last year when crude was $100/bbl. even if crude stays around $60. After all, as consumers we have demonstrated that we are willing to pay those prices for fuel. The oil companies have a responsibility to their shareholders to maximize profit, but increasing the price too quickly can pinch off demand. Increasing it too slowly misses opportunity to increase profit - it's a fine balancing act. These guys are not producing fuel as a public service, they are not bound ethically, morally, or legally to sell us fuel at cost plus. If you think fuel price is high now, wait until the price of crude goes back up!

Hi, like our choice is to pay the price or walk, right! "Willing", we are a captive audience. We have no real choice, pay the price or permanently park your $50,000.00 vehicle.

Indeed. People aren’t “willing” to pay as much as "having" to pay in order to drive a vehicle. Sure, some folks may have to use public transportation more but that’s only viable in places where good public transportation is available, certainly not in rural areas. Oil companies have a monopoly and they know it. Fuel prices affect everything and increased consumer prices reflect that. If there was true competition, fuel prices would go down.

One thing I’ve not understood, why is the oil industry subsidized?

As I came across SC, GA, AL, MI, LA, and TX the past two, finally landing at Lewisville Lake Campground in Lewisville, TX, I saw diesel vary by over $0.30 per gallon in just a few miles. So, by fueling up my main and auxiliary tanks, yesterday being 57.5 gallons for $143.65, I saw savings of nearly $20 by being able to shop around. I like diesel at $2.499 per gallon!

$2.499 for diesel
First time in a long time I've seen diesel cheaper than gas-
