Belleville Ontario April 28, 87 octane Regular 97.9 a liter or $3.70 per US gallon.

92 octane Premium $1.06 per liter or $4.01

By the way our European correspondents have over estimated the cost of gas per US gallon by using the wrong conversion factor.

1 Imperial gallon = 4.546 liter

1 US gallon = 3.785 liter

The Imperial gallon is used in Britain, Canada and Australia or it was.

I also notice the European motorist gets a much higher octane product, their cheapest regular is higher octane than our premium.

Wholesale gas has dropped about 15 in the past 2 days to $2.22. Amazing how the Greek debt can affect gas prices. We paid $2.73 for regular in Montrose, Colorado today with the supermarket 10 discount. We've noticed for quite a while Safeway's prices are several cents higher than Kroger chains and the discount stations.

With joy I see the Canadian dollar is down to 97 US, down from just over $1.00 a week or so ago. As we will be in Canada by the end of the month, we hope their dollar weakens and our goes up.

Don't get your hopes up. Yesterday I saw gas has gone up to $1.02 per liter for regular. That's $3.86 per gallon. A 97 cent dollar would make that $3.74 to you.

In other words, fill your tank before you cross the border.

Always do and fill up a couple of 5 gallon cans too.

Canadian dollar down another 2 today. The Canadian dollar isn't going down so much as the US dollar is going up. All this is related to Greek debt and panicky markets.

We filled up today in Bend,OR and paid $2.92 a gallon for diesel. Unleaded ranges from $2.75 to a little over $3. This area is the cheapest fuel we have seen since leaving San Antonio, TX late April. Slowly making our way to Gillette,WY.
