Hey--crazy as it may seem--have you guys seen people that recycle 'frying oil' as well as some using water as fuel alternatives...Seems like since the government has such a hand in petroleum that it would never agree to go nationwide with these projects...would be nice though...

I burn waste veggie oil in the summer time. Was a big help when diesel was close to five bucks a gallon last year.

It's been around for quite a while. I have a couple of buddies that scrounge the local McDonalds, Burger Kings, and others. Now that diesel is down, they were spending more scrounging for grease than simply buying diesel so they're back to the pump.
The US uses millions of gallons of petroleum products every day. While it all sounds good, how much used cooking oil do you think there is out there? The other problem is that is cost way more to make cooking oil than it does diesel. That means that it might make sense to use free used oil but not to buy it new at over twice the price. That is after you buy the equipment you need to make it "fuel".
The government has nothing to do with used cooking oil and, I'm simply guessing here, they probably don't want anything to do with it. My buddies are beating the gov't. out of about $4 a week each by not paying fuel taxes-until it gets cold and their fuel lines clog up.
The water additives are for the people that believe there is a 200 mpg carburetor out there but ExxonMobil bought the rights to it in order to keep selling gasoline at $4/ gallon.

It's a little more complicated than simply dumping french fry grease in your fuel tank. If the fuel filter is stopping up because of burning veggie oil, your doing something wrong.

I saw a crawl on one of the news channels this morning that said Valero and Total were increasing diesel production since gas consumption was down. There may be more to it th an one sentence, but I'm sure it will gladden diesel users.
