Jackson Center visit

I spent almost two weeks at Jackson Center last August and found lots to do:
1. Wright Patterson AFB Museum is absolutely first class and a must see. Invest a whole day there.
2. The Neil Armstrong museum was well worth a visit. It will bring back memories of America's greatest decades and achievements....which I fear are now lost as we depend on the Soviets to return our astronauts from our own Space Station.
3. The Bike Museum was on my list but I never made it.
4. Troy, Ohio is a beautiful town which has the most interesting life-sized sculptures scattered throughout.....really a neat place....and several very fine restaurants. I have attached a couple of photos.
5. The factory tour is really informative and you get to meet some of the fine folks who work there.
6. My experience with the service department was first class all the way. I learned so much about my trailer, I felt I was attending an Airstream owner's seminar most days. Their patience with my endless questions was admirable.

The folks around that part of Ohio are friendly and make you feel right at home....even if they don't serve grits! Enjoy the experience and the people.

None of those are actually IN Jackson Center, except the factory tour. They aren't far away, though.
Wright-Pat Museum is closer to Dayton, 60 miles away.
Neil Armstrong Museum is in Wapakoneta, 15 miles away.
Bike Museum is in Bremen, 17 miles away.
Troy is an interesting place (home of the Hobart Institute of Welding Technology, where I took some classroom training in Welding Design over a decade ago) but it's not in Jackson Center, either. It's 36 miles away.
So I stand by my previous statement that just about the only thing to do in town is get out of town. This sort of thing is why I bring a toad with me when I travel in my Airstream Interstate, so I don't have to break camp to go exploring.

Yeah, but...
Those attractions are within 1-2 hours away.
My plan is to go to at least one attraction after the John Deere tractor comes and takes my small silver house away.

Guess I kinda assumed some limited mobility might be available.......I mean we do own travel trailers after all...but I neglected to consider the Interstate owner, my apologies. My trip to JC one way was about 900 miles, so I did not consider 60 miles to Dayton to see the finest collection of warbirds anywhere in the world any significant journey. Guess it's all prospective, but I stand corrected.

I have heard the Toledo Museum of Art is outstanding but I haven't been there. It is 100 miles north of JC. It has a world class glass collection and is a place I hope to visit on a future visit to the factory.

I don't have any problem with suggestions of things to do in the area of jackson center I guess it all depends on the time were there ,and how far you want to go for day trips ,if you travel 900 miles to get there I see no problem with traveling 50 to 60 miles if there is something worth visiting.thanks for all suggestions !

My family is from Piqua and Sidney, just a few miles down the road from Jackson Center. One of the most enjoyable things we've done all throughout that area is exploring their newly built extensive bike trails. If you like bike riding (or even if you don't) it is just a beautiful way to spend a day. There are brand new paved lovely bike paths throughout the entire area...through several counties. You can bike ride to your heart's delight. The cemetery in Piqua is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen in the entire country; the ride out to Lockington Dam is also very enjoyable. Here's a link to some info regarding some of the Ohio Bikeways:

We are planning the whole week around our service center visit.
I think we will make the best of it and have fun.
Life is good.

Indeed if you are coming from a great distance what's another 60 miles?
Don't forget the public market in Dayton Saturday mornings! Awesome good time if you're that way.

Taking basically 2 days to get there spread out over 4 days and 3 nights.
Then taking 2 nights and 1 day for service.
Then 5 days and 4 nights to meander back home seeing sights along the way.
It is entirely possible to drive from home in Mississippi to Jackson Center in one day, but ain't never gonna do it thataway no more...
Take time to smell the roses...

You could take a short drive down to Greenville, Ohio to check out the KitchenAid factory and take a tour.

I spoke with one of our managers in Ohio today. He told me there is a Packard museum in Dayton, Ohio.
I would like to try to work that into the itinerary.

Not to self: schedule visit to Packard museum for dumpster dive during trip to the Mothership in April...
