What a mess!
So we left Anaheim this morning, bound for Pismo Beach. The freeway N out of LA has some really bad sections. As in holes and breaks in the roads the size of small ravines. So what we pulled over N of Santa Barbara, I was some what expecting some of the cushions to be tossed about, but I was not expecting the cabinet above the microwave (27 ft FC FB) to open, spit out a bottle of red wine and three beers, and a ceramic platter, and have all that shatter and run all over the trailer. I hope we got it all cleaned up and the trailer doesn't smell like stale beer and wine the rest of the week.

Sorry to hear that. Thanks for sharing. From my boating days I remember the need to secure all items before we got underway, especially ones that can spill.

Most of the freeways that haven't been upgraded in recent years are pretty awful and you're in the lanes used by trucks. When we bought our 27' this year, we towed it down I-5 from NoCA and it was terrible.
I've never had that particular cabinet pop open, but my guess is it's because you had some heavier items (glass/water). I usually put those items in the fridge in the door shelves or secure them separately in a box/bin/cooler.

Lesson learned: Like in a boat heavy breakable objects get stored low and secured.

We put glass like wine bottles in a plastic bin. We have one under the dinette seating and either pad or separate the bottles with dividers. If it can break, it will, so be prepared. Had a can of cola split open as well.
We also use a bungee cord to hold doors, drawers and frig closed while traveling, so even if they pop, they will be held and not fly open for the contents to spill out.
Your spare paper towel rolls can be used to help keep items positioned. Dish and bath towels are good padding too. We are trying some refrigerator expansion type rods (like a curtain rod). They fit some of our flipper overheads as well as the frig. Seem to keep items on the shelf.
Travel safe. Pat

We have found some of the child proofing items effective at keeping doors closed. Heavy items low and secured too.

Footman loops installed strategically, with a flat nylon strap and a quick release buckle. For drawers we use toddler-proofing straps that stick on via adhesive that can be peeled off if I come up with a better method.
Before that, drawers launched on heavy braking, and the fridge and closet often opened after a rough ride.
And yes, proper handling and stowage of cargo is very important.
