We seem to see more Airstreams in the Upper Midwest and definitely out West. We took a two-week trip from Indiana to Wyoming and back and saw 18. One in Indiana, one in Illinois, a few in Iowa and the rest in SD and WY. We get really excited when we spot one on the road and always chat with other Airstreamers in campgrounds.

We're the only Airstream in the whole park

On a very recent trip from Sacramento to Salt Lake City for a trade show (w/o trailer in tow), I saw at least 10 Airstreams on the road, at one point about three in a row with no other trailer in between! A rough estimate would be that 1/4 to 1/3 of all trailers I observed were Airstreams!! Never seen that many in all my travels. Maybe a rally somewhere???

Well my first time out in the Airstream back in June 2016 (I am a Newbie), I was told by the owner of the campground, your the first Airstream we have had here. That was nice. Two weeks later when we went, the first morning there was a group of women who wanted a tour of out Airstream. I was out drinking coffee and yelled at my wife, Honey we have company!! Ha Ha!

I think that people inclined to get an Airstream tend to be more adventuresome and to do things and go places that the Jolly Jumbos do not.

The greatest concentration of Airstreams we've ever seen was at this little Alberta/Montana border crossing between East Glacier and Waterton Lakes. They must have been on a caravan tour. The customs official thought we might have been part of the group (though we were headed the opposite way) and asked what was going on: he'd never seen anything like it.

We generally see a few in the western national parks.

So we're hoping you folks from the less Airstream-y parts of the country head out West. Your AS wants to.

Better get use to it! I have never seen many Airsteam units across the USA or RV parks. They represent a niche market and cult ownership. In fact, if Thor hadn't bought the Airsteam brand, it may have simply disappeared from the marketplace. Airsteams are priced above the typical SOB marketplace because they are built to last many years longer. When SOB owners see your rig, they see an icon.

guess that make us the 1% ers.. (rounding up for simplicity)

if that 50 per week with the new line they installed last year as well which was supposed to double output..

Airstream makes 50 trailers per week (?), hence around 2,600 per year.

2,600/356,735 = 0.7%

If we include Airstream Interstates, this % would go up.

Another interesting trend per RVIA is the constant increase in RV shipments since 2009, though they still lag the pre-recession figures.

Looks like the winner was 1976. a whopping 4493 AS's in the same place.. (I bet that was epic) now it seems if they get 600 it's doing good. Guess many owners are not intrested in being part of an american iconic organization. They just want to own one.

When i got my 2005 earlier this year, even before buying it, I was in contact with WBCCI trying to find out about transferring the numbers as the PO was not going to be getting a replacement AS.

To me joining the WBCCI is just as important as owning a Airstream, that like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich without jelly.. all sticky and no sweet.

guess the younger generation has not developed the sense of nostalgia like you get when you are older.. some do, but not many unfortunately.

If the WBCCI could get folks like a taylor swift or god forbid Kim K to endorse them the place would explode.

Will finish up 3 weeks on the road on Friday. All in New England. Except for 3 days boondocking at Lake George, NY we've been in parks the rest of the trip. The only Airstream we've seen in the same park was a 30' FC at the Seawall CG in Acadia NP, Maine. I'd also say that while I'm all about keeping trees and natural areas, Acadia is NOT a friendly park for a 30' Airstream. (Or a 30' anything else.) While I didn't miss the huge toy haulers and SOB's with 6 slides, the NPS most assuredly needs to remove stumps when they cut down trees. The largest population of RV brands had "Cruise America" emblazoned on all 4 sides.

The one percent is holding up here. We're at Nehalem Bay State Park on the Oregon Coast. Out of 300 sites there are two Airstreams besides us. I haven't talked to them like I usually do as I'm still recovering from the Oregon Unit Rally here over the weekend. Great fun!

Featherbedder--we are thinking of brining our Interstate to the track for the race on Sunday the 18th. What's the name of the campground that you recommend across from CLS?
