"Welcome to the Third World"

That should be the sign on I-78 at the New Jersey/Pennsylvania border instead of "Welcome to New Jersey". That section of I-78 is so bad, its' worse than roads in many third world countries.

How bad? How about bad enough that the curbside upper locker cabinet (over the sink/stove) in our Argosy came crashing down while crossing that nasty stretch last night.

We spent the weekend camping in PA while we were taking a kayaking class (second half is this coming weekend). Looks like we'll be camping in the Basecamp this weekend as I doubt I'll get the cabinet fixed before then...

Bob, I told you to only put light beer in those cabinets...
Seriously, since it's down, is there anything you want to do there instead?

I have to agree.

I just used Rte 78 east bound into NJ. Horrible seams in the road.
My other option out of NJ is Rte 80. The entrance ramp has rumble strips that tend loosen my fridge mounts.
Oh no,....... imagine the traffic jam when they start repairing the road.

The bumps in the road sheared the rivets off that held up the cabinet. Since it's down at the moment, I'm going to do some more painting and start the cabinet replacement. We'll probably use 1/4" oak ply and make up a nicer door design. Of course, then I'll have to do the rest of the trailer, but that can wait until the end of the season. In the mean time, RT 202 is our new way in/out of the Third World...

I Feel Your Pain

Bob,
I literally feel your pain. I live about 8 miles away from I-78 in PA and a lot of my camping trips require us to utilize this sad excuse for an interstate. We get ona and off at the Shartlesville exit. Going east bound on that stretch about 2 miles before our exit I have to slow down to about 15 - 20 MPH to keep the harmonics from bouncing the trailer and TV off the road. It is absolutely horrible. I attribute its poor condition to HEAVY truck traffic and our freeze-thaw-freeze-thaw winters.
