We ran into rain and strong winds as we traveled down the Wash. and Oregon coast during the same period. Wasn't quite as bad as you had, but was part of the same storm system. Everybody needs the rain, but too bad it has to come in such blasts. A rain every night, not too hard, from 2 to 4 am, would be best. Glad you did well.

Posting a video of Lena Horne reminds me of a story that has a very loose connection to The Donald. A few years after WW II, Trump's father built a mansion on our block. A few years later the neighborhood was in arms about a rumor he was going to sell it to Lena Horne. The neighborhood homeowners' group called a special meeting about it. I was too young to go, but I think my father did and came home disgusted with the racism rampant amongst these higher income, supposedly well educated people. Eventually the rumor faded and the mansion remained in father Trump's hands. That was about the time The Donald got thrown out of a private school in NYC and was sent to military school. Apparently he did not learn discipline there.

Gene, what a horrible thing to do to such a fine human being as Lena Horne.

I read Sammy Davis Jr.'s bio. Before the civil rights movement, he entertained at the best hotels in Vegas, but was not allowed to eat or sleep there, and had to enter/leave through the kitchen.

Racism.

Makes no sense at all.

Lena Horne was treated badly by the entertainment industry and many others. I think Hollywood finally allowed her to star in a movie, but whether they promoted it in white theaters I doubt.
