Hi, did you steal that chandelier from Forever XXI? Looks just like the ones they have in their stores.

What a frustrating experience.

I would be quite unhappy at the length of time it is taking.

The Interstate has at times found itself surrounded by those big buses.

Kind of funny, really. Some of those owners seem a bit mocking and contemptuous, others ask about our mileage.

I agree that giving is good for the soul. Cultivating a generous heart is something everyone benefits from....the giver, and the receiver.

Hang in there, FaN.

You're gonna have to have a party when you get her back.

FaN, not to be negative, but "two weeks" is a common service-industry term for "Go away. I don't know when it will be ready, nor can I be bothered to actually check."

The term bears no semblance to an actual date on any calendar, nor any experience or information the person quoting it may or may not have. It just means "I don't know, so like I said: go away". It is most often used in the construction industry. You ask when anything will be ready, and you get an immediate "Two weeks" said as though the person asked really knew the truth or cared if he did.

Sorry if that bursts any bubbles. :/

Hi, last time that I brought my trailer in for repairs at George Sutton RV, Tom asked me if I needed it right away. Knowing that I wouldn't need my trailer for several months, I told Tom to take his time, I won't need it for a few months or more. He called me about ten days later and said it was ready. Much quicker than I expected.

Sure wish you had at least one other option for service in your area.......

Where?

FaN, I seem to have forgotten where your trailer is for "service". And, is there no other source for repairs in your area?

The entire story is sad, but sometimes service facilities get lost in their own sense of self importance. Hope the issues are settled soon.

But, at least you have some friends here on Air Forums....

Aage, thanks for the education re: "two weeks." Two weeks also seems to be a popular time frame for payback when people borrow money....and you're left waiting.

No burst bubbles. (Just a slow leak).

switz, such is the nature of the beast. An Airstream is like a prized Thoroughbred. You can't take it to any ole' horse doctor. But, it would be nice if there were more than one local specialist.

Ms.Moto, truly appreciate the friendship. You're so right about that sense of dealership self-importance - especially when their service lot is full and there's a line-up to get in.

Update: Glory Hallelujiah.....the FaN is back in the driveway and I'm sitting inside the trailer working on the aviation rag. It's over 85F, but the air-conditioning is on and it's nice and cool. I'm still waiting for the parts, but the window was fixed enough that it could be towed without blowing/falling out.

The FaN was away so long that I almost forgot how nice it is; kinda feels like that just-bought feeling, and I'm readmiring things. Even with the occasional pain -
aml very grateful and lucky that I have a trailer such as this.

I have a vague memory that you needed the black rod that looks bent and holds the window open, one on each side. Maybe my vague memory is an illusion or even a delusion. If it is one and the same, I may have a spare or two somewhere and if so, let me know if the replacement never comes. I could send you a CARE package. We'll be on Vancouver Is. from Aug. 13 to 27, a short drive for you (although quite expensive ferry ride); stop in.

I may have asked this before... but is that the Vintage "rag?" As in EAA?

(...liking aluminum toys, my other is an H model BE-35)

Gene, you are not hallucinating. Thanks for the offer to give me a couple of "arms" but since it is an insurance claim, might as well go for broke!
Love to meet someday, but dunno about August. You will be in a beautiful part of B.C.

Oil 'n water, that is not the vintage rag I toil over. Our is just an itty-bitting thing -about 500 subscribers, tops. But it is put together with a lot of TLC.

BE-35....isn't that colloquially known as the "doctor killer?"

Yes - mine is a "V-tailed" Doctor killer; the worst kind. (But, it's okay; I'm not a doctor!) But since it is a 1957 model, it is "vintage."
