Aage & Maggie, the Danish rice dessert sounds scrumptious. I am really going to try it. Love rice pudding - this will be a great alternative to the rice and raisin version.

The Swedes make pepparkakor every Christmas. It is similar to gingebread, but lighter and crispier.
Pepparkakor (Swedish Ginger Cookies) recipe | Epicurious.com

Honestly, that is the only sweet thing I remember my Swedish relatives making. They were big on the salt/savoury foods vs. sweet.

I have had those, and they are delicious.

Am getting ready to make gingerbread cookies for my grands.......their favorite, interestingly enough, even tho there is very little frosting on them.

Sounds so nice, Maggie.

Have a wonderful holiday with your family.

Someone asked if I'd like to see Adele next year. I said okay.

Wish they would quit poking at her weight. (Joan Rivers was notorious for that.) What weight? She looks normal to me.

Thanks, FaN, and Happy Holidays to you.

Adele is such an amazing singer, I love her. I thought it great that she went to an Adele impersonator competition, impersonating an Adele impersonator....and got away with it, until she began to sing.

What a woman. Go see her if you can!

Won't be going, Maggie.

I'll defer to Bruce Allen's Reality Check, "Adele Fans Left Frustrated."|

That's disappointing.

I have read of all sorts of ways people can pre-reserve blocks of tickets, before they actually go on sale, causing just this kind of thing.

On another note!.....a Shirley Valentine-ish, women's gathering is on mid-September in Astoria, OR at Fort Stevens SP we're thinking.

I'm heading for the west coast, after all, after the Wyoming gathering mid-August. Will hopefully also visit friends off the coast of Seattle.

Fort Stevens is Gail's recommendation... I haven't looked at exact dates or reservations to check availability yet. I think it will just be a few of us....

Would love to have you come down. Think about it. :

Will really try, Maggie. Thank-you for the invitation. With my food business and the vintage-aviation group, it's hard to make any long-term plans.

Speaking of which (vintage aviation group) the FaN has become craft central. I am making 20 of these steam-punk book-box centrepieces for our fundraiser. The organizer just told me we could be moving to a larger hangar, and we might need 20 more!

I really enjoy doing stuff like this, though. It's creative and relaxing. I think these book-boxes will look really kewl - the Edison light bulb will actually light up.

Yep, you are one creative woman, FaN. Those are indeed, very cool.

I started a SV gathering thread, we are doing the weekend of September 9-11 at Fort Stevens SP, so keep a watch on that and hope you can make it.

Was there anything kewler "on the road" than a '65 Mustang (besides an Airstream)?

Stumbled across this neat video. In the time it took for the Vandellas to sing "Nowhere to Run," another Mustang was ready to roll.

I think Airstream with their stop watch timers trying to shave seconds off the assembly process are getting the speed up and the quality out. There are too many structural variations across the models for true quick assembly line process times. The number of rivets on a 16' Bambi are far fewer than a 3e1' trailer of any trim line. And they are not putting rivets in every rib.

Well, this is interesting. Now the geek in me wants to investigate various assembly line times. Everything from the average car to an A380.

BTW, what is the average assembly-line time for an Airstream?

From the lack of quality coming out the doors, assembly time is shorter than it was when our 2013 25FB International Serenity was built in June of 2012. The rate was about 26 units per week then. When our 2014 Classic came down the line in January 2014, they were pressing for increasing the units per week from the high 40s to 51 per week.

The new additional floor space and 200 new workers has not helped quality.

Our 2013 25FB International Serenity came off the line in June of 2012 when production was 26 units per week. We found no issues. Or perhaps the dealer actually did a PDI and corrected what was found.

Our 2014 31' Classic started the last work day of December before the Christmas break and was released from production the third week of January 2014. The blizzard turned just in time inventory control into "whenever". The production was at 45 units per week in the same facility and work crew.

I photoed the crossed duct work coming out of the rear side of the furnace just before the kitchen cabinet was placed inside the trailer on top of the ducts and furnace. We had no rear heat when we did the over night test. I told the dealer I knew what the problem was and where it was. He laugher at me until I showed him the photo. We even photoed some of the QC issues and personally told and showed the QC supervisor the issues with our trailer as well as sending a detailed e-mail listing the visible issues. They remained unfixed when the trailer arrived at the dealership.

Workers were tripping over one another inside the trailers - total chaos. The end caps were piling up as they were quicker to build than the long body skins could be cut out on the huge programable lathe table.

I arrived 15 minutes after the trailer did as I knew exactly when it would be at the dealership lot, There were many more issues discovered in the 15 minutes I spent walking through the unit. I watched the outside cleaning crew blow the pin stripes off the side of the trailer with their pressure washer.

The ones a two year old could fix, I said they could address under warranty.

I would get the rest done properly later at the third party shop that did all the modifications - A&P Vintage Trailer Works in Paradise, TX. They are also an approved warranty service center for Airstream.

Now that they have added nearly 50% more floor space and 200 "new" workers, it is no wonder the quality is dropping. The volume is increasing and an untrained work force does not even know they have not done their job properly.

switz, sorry to hear about all that.

I have had relatively few problems with the FaN. I have no desire to "move up" to a bigger/newer model, especially after hearing about your tale of woe.

Welcome to the Breakfast Show.......

Nothing so cool as a P-51 or a Spitfire doing a low pass and hard climb-out either....

Very different sounds😄😄😄

FaN - you might enjoy this 4-minute 'shiny object' even though it's not "vintage" or have any classic rock groups hopping around - but there is the distinctive sound of the engines at the end! There is a rivet machine around 1:20 or so that a few on the Forums might wish they had at Jackson Center to speed their process (rather than JC choosing to just put in fewer rivets)!
