Don't feel alone. I'm barely fluent or literate in English, let alone any of those weird foreign lingoes.

I do know one pun that makes no sense whatsoever in its original language, but only in translation… ¿Como frijole? --> How you bean?

Hong Kong is a fun place or at least it was 45 years ago.

We enjoyed Hong Kong for a few days as we returned from 9 weeks in SE Asia in late 2009.

Ok FaN this is an inelegant segue but today we had brunch at this incredible spot in New Orleans called Atchafalaya which features a Bloody Mary bar...and my 86 year old mother finished hers first with the comment " well I know what I am doing"

Anyway the point is I truly think you need to venture down here to the land of incomparable food and written word. Soon!

Annie, what do you call a Bloody Mary without the vodka?

A bloody shame.

I like Bloody Caesars, but no one south of the 49th has heard of them.
Bet mom would like then too!
http://www.canadacool.com/COOLFACTS/...tinCaesar.html

I would love a taste of that warm southern hospitality.

Someday.

In June 1966, I stumbled across the street from the CPR station having just arrived in Calgary after being bounced across half of Canada in a shiny contraption called "The Canadian", and through open the doors of a dingy beer parlour in the Yale hotel. Most of the folks in there were drinking draft beer. Some of them were drinking a concoction of beer and tomato juice, a Calgary Red Eye. Others, the ones with jobs, were drinking Bloody Marys, and the avant garde types, the ones with fancy boots, were quaffing down Bloody Caesars. The guy from the Hilton must have had better connections. Jim

You say "Clamato"
We say "Tomato"!

Actually that Bloody Caesar recipe sounds bloody good! But that Calgary Red Eye sounds like a reason to quit drinking.

So, how does the Bloody Caesar pair up with your new gastronomic treat, FaN? 250 million Bloody Caesars served annually according to the press release so maybe you can work that angle?

Annie, you've inspired me to give up the high-flutin' gourmet-food idea, put on my gumboots, and start digging clams.

Jim, Calgary must have been a real one-horse town in those days. It's grown considerably, but I didn't find it to be a really big city last summer - compared to Toronto and Vancouver.

I liked it, though. The people are great. I somehow found myself trapped in a cul de sac with the trailer; a guy jumped into my truck and whipped the trailer out of there.
