I hear a lot of gratitude in your post FaN. So sorry this happened, but your attitude is marvelous.

MSMOTO her attitude is thus, because, as we all know, she is FAN tastic as a person. Besides, if she tried to hold it back I think she would explode.

As you have surmised, she is loved.

Hi, that had to be scary to have a window explode while being inside of your trailer. The wind here was blowing quite hard too. One of my really large trash cans was parked in front of my trailer and the wind blew it down my driveway. I found it in between my faithful Lincoln and very close to my brand new F-150. I tied all of my trash cans to my trailer's tongue jack.

Thank-you everyone, for your words of kindness and concern.

Oh boy, what a couple of days this has been. When I pulled out my insurance documents, I noticed the deductible had increased from $250 to $1,000. My premium fee had also increased!

So, got on the blower to the insurance company. They said I had increased the FaN's replacement value; hence, the increase in the deductible. This is something they had not informed me (although it was on the document and admittedly, I did not notice). To say she doth protest too much would be an understatement. The first time I make a property claim in my life, and I could be up the creek w/o the proverbial paddle (or up the highway without a window). So, I try to convince myself that my out-of-pocket expense won't be too much. A call is put in to the Mothership. A new window costs $200. However, that is in American funds, of course, and the Canadian dollar is tanking. Then there is the shipping and installation.

While cursing myself out for not reading my insurance document (I was only $1,000 over the line that caused the jump in the deductible), the insurance company phones. They said that since my agent did not point out the considerable jump in deductible, they would cover the cost over and above $250. I thanked them profusely. After all, they could have said so long, Charlie. You didn't read the document. Tough!

Anyway, back at the ranch, I hate looking at this.....

The view from the inside is worse. BTW, when I said I taped an "afghan" to the wall as some kind of temporary insulation, I meant this.....

Not this!......

Wild about your insurance co. deductible.

Nice that they did the right thing.

The latter taped to the inside would be more interesting, but coverage might be an issue.

How did you guess? The network is still working on a few ideas, but it could go something like this:

"Broken Window: One Woman. One Dog. One Damaged Airstream Trailer."

Episode One - "Flatulence."
The FaN visits the Great Canadian Baked Beans Festival. The broken window becomes an indispensable defect!

I think the blanket looks nice on the "window" or small door. I never have been about to figure out how to release the window in an emergency and doubt I could figure it out in a real emergency. That attempt would come after I remembered the fire extinguisher is at the other end of the trailer. Maybe I'll get in the shower and turn the water on.

If I jump out the window, do I got head first or attempt to climb up there and go feet first? Can I climb up there? What body parts would get injured on the bottom of the window (I don't want to think about that too much). Do I go first and catch Barb when she comes out, or do I let her go first and help her out? Maybe I just pull the covers over my head and hope for the best.

My emergency exit is over the desk in the rear of the AS. For that, I would go out feet first , face down so I could step on the bumper and get out gracefully without falling on my face... In a bigger hurry, the heck with graceful...😃

Women, children and dogs first, always....

It's always a good idea to test the exits and practice bailing out before you have to in a real emergency.

We have fire extinguishers front and rear since our kitchen is in the middle. Batteries in smoke and CO detector changed out every 6 months.

I'm trying to figure out how you go face down, feet first. You are a lot more flexible than I am.

Upon reflection, I think I will go first with Barb's help. She's 5'9" and works out; she's 10 years younger. Since she's big and strong and young, she can lower me out the window, I'll lie on the ground and she can land on me to soften the fall. Then she can help the EMT's drag me to the ambulance.

Climb up on desk, sit on it, swing feet out window, roll and slide out. It's not spectacular but it worked when I tried it

When I don't know where to go, I come here, to this thread. It's comfortable. Just like where I find myself today, thinking of two people whose journey I only know from the forums. Maggie, thank you for sharing.

Are you the ones spending Xmas there? If not, you may see another trailer pull in.

Oh yes we all love our FaN time...
So I am putting in a plug for the reality TV show on the FaN to include forays outside of Canada...surely the budget will allow it?
How about coming on down this way? FaN at Mardi Gras or Jazz Fest or Voodoo Experience? You know you want it!

Annie, getting back to men trying to get out of those escape windows, I think they should turn it into a contest at Alumapalooza. The collective end result could go something like this.....

The window. His groin. It works in so many levels.

"The budget" would certainly allow for that - and then I'd just keep heading south.
