Somewhere here I saw something about love. If anyone wants to listen to four delightful stuffed animals, to be precise, Carbear, Ferdie, Dawg, and Muffie, here is a place with lots of stuff on love.

And I agree on looking something up. One takes the path of least resistance. I could not convince the local Sally Ann to take my complete set of Funk and Wagnells. And they had never heard of the Canadian Encyclopedia. No chance there. So I snoop periodically. But they did sell me a missing "Blood, sweat, and tears" for two bucks so now I have two complete sets of Churchill's WW2 history. One for each son. Must be even-steven. I think I will change my name. How does "Rambler" fit? Also reminds me of my dad's Nash. And I will replace my Morris avatar with something related to my Airstream. Like a heart. Got to go. Vancouver lost.
Toronto won.

So much for all this love business -- and you can leave that table now!

Considering what is happening here in the Fraser Valley,

that could be a good thing.

That is what I was referring to FaN. Rambling on in my oblique manner. No problem though, Roast beef and Yorkshire Pudding will be a nice change for Christmas perhaps. Jim

The Rambler, indeed. One has to be sharp to follow in your footsteps.
Not too close though, because all absurdity of conduct arises from the imitation of those whom we cannot resemble.
- respects to Samuel Johnson

But, I'll take the Yorkshire pudding (sans the roast beef).

FaN, great quote. One of the bits that prevents me from public speaking. My wife is a fan of his and I am sure she uses bits his 250 year old wisdom to keep me from bumping into things. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Ps. Never tried Yorkshire pudding with out roast beef. Might be awful. Jim

I always thought that large empty roll (Yorkshire pudding) was a device to be used to convey large amounts of jelly, jam or honey to the mouth.

Yeoww! I'd rather use a spoon.

I've always thought of it as a great way to convey lots of roast beef gravy!

ahhhhh.....I love it when you guys pull a chair up to the Breakfast Show table - especially when it resurrects memories of a great book (and film).

Helene my dear -

There are many ways of doing it but Mummy and I think this is the simplest for you to try. Put a cup of flour, an egg, a half cup of milk and a good shake of salt into a large bowl and beat altogether until it is the consistency of thick cream. Put in the frig for several hours. (It's best if you make it in the morning.) When you put your roast in the oven, put in an extra pan to heat. Half an hour before your roast is done, pour a bit of the roast grease into the baking pan, just enough to cover the bottom will do. The pan must be very hot. Now pour the pudding in and the roast and pudding will be ready at the same time.

I don't know quite how to describe it to someone who has never seen it, but a good Yorkshire Pudding will puff up very high and brown and crisp and when you cut into it you will find that it is hollow inside.

Love

Dear Cecily

Yorkshire Pudding out of this world, we have nothing like it, I had to describe it to somebody as a high, curved, smooth, empty waffle.

Best -

Helene

Gosh, books, movies....... Steig Larson's "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" and sequels, because it deals with child abuse, spousal abuse, government corruption, and oppression of certain social subcultures.

And, on audio disc this is excellent entertainment while pulling 500-700 miles in a day.

Not really appropriate for children, however🙈🙉🙊😁

Disaster in the Dark

Last night.
Big windstorm.
10 p.m.
I had just turned out the bedside light and was about to cuddle-down in the FaN when CRASH!!!!!!!!!!

One minute it was there -
and the next minute it wasn't: The Emergency Exit window was gone - shattered in a massive explosion.

I hopped out of bed, grabbed the flash light, and went outside to inspect. Laying at the foot of the window was a hose carrier (sans hose). It had obviously become airborne and the emergency window took a direct hit.
I was relieved that it had not hit the trailer and caused significant damage to the skin. I found some plastic in the barn and taped the window up from the inside. I also taped an afghan to the wall as some kind of temporary insulation and went back to bed.

This morning.
6 a.m.
Phoned the emergency insurance claim number and they told me to take it to the dealership for an estimate.

Pictures to follow (it's still dark here).
