Pro, the Fat Gram Planet? "Fat-free" is a misnomer.

Like you, I really watch the carbs and calories. I was pre-diabetic a few years ago.

Hi switz, first visit to The Breakfast Show? Welcome!

Good point about sugar and carbs. They are pervasive.

Ah yes, Breakfast, the most important (and my favorite) meal of the day.

I have a good friend who repeatedly did those meat diets years ago. I thought it was rationalization because he wanted to consume meat and more meat. He did lose some weight, then went back to his usual eating, put on the weight and more, went on the meat diet again and so on and on. We saw him last week (he and his wife live 250 miles away now) and he must have gone over 300 lbs. He's a big guy and could have been a linebacker if that was what he wanted years ago. His wife told me his doctor told him to lose weight and stop smoking, gave him meds for hypertension at 55. He never went back to the doctor. My friend is much younger than me and I told him I don't want to go to his funeral. Strokes run in his family. He has a high tension job. I feel sorry for his wife. He won't listen to anyone. We'll miss him.

Too bad about your friend Gene, the only consolation is that it isn't too late...yet. Sounds like he won't listen to anyone, and maybe he will need the wakeup call of a mild stroke, or other illness related to his weight, to finally bring him around to his senses.

All this talk about eating, and of course we are on a thread with breakfast as a part of the title

I've known people like Gene describes, who never did clean up their act even after a wake-up call. Their attitude was more like, "I'd rather live three more years doing things I enjoy than thirty more years not doing them."

Well I am to old to worry about what I eat.
I loved tortillas back in the olden day when they where made with lard. Now they tast like cardboard and the package brags 0g trans fat and NO LARD.
IF YOU'R SITTIN AT THE COUNTER EATIN LEAVE YOUR HAT ON,BUT IF YOUR SITTIN AT THE TABLE TAKE IT OFF.

I'm allowed to eat anything I want. I'm just not allowed to want very much!

Long as you still want and can have your crawdads you will do OK.
Oh yes and lots of Tabasco sauce on the stuff I put in my tortillas with no LARD is all that makes them eatable.
I be all over that like a chicken on a June bug.

On the Road Again.....Bridal Falls, B.C.

Get out the Froot Loops - it's another Breakfast Show photo essay.

Presenting....Bridal Falls, B.C.

So, where is it?
Bridal Falls is squished between the Trans Canada Highway and the Cascade Mountains, approximately 15 minutes east of Chilliwack. There are four RV parks in the immediate area. Bridal Falls is the sixth highest waterfall in Canada (just in case anyone's keeping track).

What's there besides the RV parks and falls?
At one time the only business there was a modest gas station and cafe. Business was good. Then the business changed hands. The new owner was ambitious. "Good" wasn't good enough. He was going to change the little gas bar and cafe into something great with the addition of a rock/gem museum and a store.

However, one's idea of greatness is always subject to interpretation.....coupled with a high degree of risk.

Is the cafe/store/gas station/museum easy to spot from the highway?
Absolutely! Just look for the big mural of cows, cute kids, a cowgirl, and a red pick-up truck with the dog in back that's painted on the front of the cafe. The mural really isn't that bad. I respect the intent: This is a blank wall. You deserve more than a blank wall. I am going to put something on that wall in the name of "art"......

What is the inside of the cafe like?
The cafe is clean with spacious booths for big families and beefy truckers. Functional and practical. The food is pretty good....and Bob's your uncle.

If your shoes don't have grease or doggie doo-doo on them and you don't smell too bad, you might be seated in the "Fancy Eatin' Room".....

Just beyond the Fancy Eatin' Room is the cafe's overflow room (and rock/gem museum). Waitress! Bring me another bowl of soup. This one's stone cold!....

What is the store like?
um....well, you decide.....

You sound a bit negative. Didn't you want to buy anything???
Of course not! I can conspicuously consume with the best of 'em.
I was taken by these cute T-shirts with little suction cups you stick on the car window. Who sez you can't find any sign of intelligent life while driving?....

But the thing I liked best were these wiggle legs bottle stoppers. Pardon the bad photo....

.....this is what they are really like. The pefect Christmas gift for your OB/GYN....

To be continued......

Oh dear.....I can be cruel, but what is it about waterfalls that attract tacky tourist traps?

A few more photos....

Sculpture is the art of the hole and the lump - Auguste Rodin

Now, let's see the frontal view -- whoa, Nellie! A bit of photo cropping was untaken, lest I offend sensitivities. Hey, King Neptune! Quit staring. Pervert!

Inflations.....deflations......

......getting outta here.

Heading further east to meet-up with a bird named Lanc....

Note the sign between the statues legs, it says we're open. He is not kidding, and he even invites one to look around
