When inside the Concorde and out over the ocean after departing New York City, the after burners came on and there was just a gentle push on your back as the Concorde accelerated to over Mach 2. That was the highest and fastest I was or ever will be in an airplane.

I had a friend in Australia that flew Lancasters for the RAF, over two hundred missions. He had stories that were amazing, and he was not prone to embellishment. At ninety he still had the attitude and presence of a sixty year old...amazing man.

Photobum, that is commendable. So few WW2 veterans are left. Most vets are not "prone to embellishment," nor do they like to be called heroes. They believe the real heroes never came home.

The highest I ever flew was 54,000 feet. In a Lear crossing the country. Napa to Teeterboro and back.

Did multiple lear flights in different Lears. My favorite formerly belonged to Imelda Marcos, and at the the time belonged to Gil Nickel. That jet sat on its tail and went straight up. And had an express machine...a real one.

The only Lear I (almost) got to fly in was a Medevac after getting kicked in the head by a horse.

Yes. That is what's wrong with me.

Flashback

Driving through the Rockies in the darkest hour.

A quick glance at the rear-view mirror....
...the FaN swaying.....
dreamily behind....
...as the music plays....

Love to curl-up in the FaN with one of the freebie movies on You Tube.

The Mountain with Spencer Tracy is a favourite. It is about two brothers, with polarized motives, who climb a mountain to reach the wreckage of a downed airliner.....

Did a pre-storm walkaround inside and out, Jim. Survived that blow intact.
