Unhappy !*%# Weather!

Hi all,
Well I made it to Iowa City. After three long day of driving.
Day one. Left Missoula, MT after dropping off Mom and boyfriend at airport.
I headed east on I-90. When I got to Butte I made a short stop for fuel and a weather check. The weather on the other side of Homestake pass was fair. So I started up the hill until the flashing sign said weather info on AM1590. I tuned listened and turned around. I ended up driving south on I-15 to Idaho Falls. Realtivly flat and clear roads. A little windy. Un-eventful night in the local Wal-mart parking lot.

I woke up to light snow and clean raods. I left "early" Monday morning. Headed south to Salt Lake city to pick up I-80 and head east. Once I turned east it started snowing again. Still clear roads. Near the Utah, Wyoming border the raods were getting wet. I stopped fill up the truck and the propane tanks just in case I got stuck somewhere. I headed east. About 10 miles east of the border it started to clear up. I continued east through Wyoming and into Western Nebraska. 710 miles/13 hours in the truck in one day. Weather in tow/chasing me. Spent another night in Wal-mart parking lot. I did patronize both of them.

I started out even earlier today leaving Sidney, NE for Iowa City, IA. 650 miles and 11 hours in the truck. The legs are getting shorter! I am spending the night at friends hotel with soaking tub in each room. A welcome relaxing break!

Tomorrow staying ahead of the bad weather... 500 miles and 9 hours in the truck. I finally get to stop running!

I suppose with your experience, you're a bit goosey with the cold weather. Good luck, don't push your luck! Hope you have a good trip.

I was pretty tense from Salt Lake to 20 or so miles into Wyoming. I relaxed once the weather "cleared".

Good thing you left Montana when you did. I just talked to a couple guys there who were telling me it's way down somewhere below zero right now. BRRRRRR, that's got to be CCCCCold in an Airstream. ( =cold)

Drive carefully!

You should be okay ... It's currently 34 degrees up here but headed for 6 above by morning. I trust you are winterized. Looks like precip for tomorrow in Iowa -- but 50 at 6:00AM and 46 at noon. No ice? Probable .... Fare thee well, Michelle!

Now go to bed .... Oh, you already have signed off. Check back in this week!

Glad you made the right decision and turned around. Staying ahead of bad weather while towing is nerve-wracking to say the least. Now get some much needed rest. Reading of your adventures is always an anticipated event. Keep 'em coming.

Hope you made it out of Dodge...

Greetings from Iowa City. We got our 310 back to the storage building just before the rain/sleet/snow. Hope you got away before it hit! What hotel has the soaking tubs?

Hi, Michelle! Where are you headed this portion of your trip? Like 2air says, our weather here in the midwest has changed BIG TIME, and it's set to worsen with heavy snow on top of ice through tonight, stretching all the may into the upper midwest. Hunker down, enjoy those hot tubs if you are still at your friends' hotel, and most of all, stay safe. Lots of us are tuned into your expedition! ~G

Hi Michelle, It was a good thing you had a early start on Monday. We had friends who were driving a truck like a big u-haul from Boise to Salt Lake on Monday. They
left Boise at 1:00 and when they hit the "Y" out of Burley it was 35 miles
a hour max with cars and big trucks rolled over and in the ditch. Not your
fun journey to say the least. Glad you made it safe and sound. It looks like
you were just ahead of it all the way. We were watching the weather and
wondering where you were.....that part of Wyoming can be brutal this time
of year. Take Care & Happy Trails on your trip South. John & Betty

We've been pretty lucky in travel weather this year. Left the UP of MI in October the day it started to get socked with feet of snow.

Went to Louisville area for Thanksgiving, got home, 50 and 60 degrees to winterize and put into hibernation....3 days later, we're suppose to get wacked with over a foot and it's cold, cold, cold.

Like they said in Hill Street Blues....let's be careful out there.

I left just in time. If I had made the stop in Bozeman like I had planned I would still be there and driving behind the front.
I dropped my trailer this morning and made it to Cleveland where I will wait it out.

Smile Factory Ho!

I made it to the Factory last night around 2130. I woke up early and started packing. I met up with Customer service this morning. We went over the trailer top to bottom inside and out. I left her with the repair folks and headed for Cleveland. I was here by 1400.
A little bonus..... Yeah that is Wally's golden trailer!
