I've noticed a disturbing trend in RV parks and campgrounds. I don't know when it started, but after a recent run-in with an RV park locally, I've noticed more and more places that demand to park your trailer for you. After the above-mentioned incident, I'd rather have my hair set on fire, and extinguished with a sledgehammer, than allow another goober touch my trailer.
Has anyone else noticed this, and would you allow a stranger to park your rig for you? If it were optional, would you ask for this service? If it were mandatory, would you allow it, or find somewhere else?
I'm going to post a poll, the first I have done in several years. It will only run for 30 days, so vote early.
Where was this CG (just so I can avoid it)? I certainly hope THEY have gobs of liability insurance - the first zillion dollar rig they crunch will be their last...

Some people are like Slinkies. They're really good for nothing, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
The campground I originally had the issue with is Red Coconut on Fort Myers Beach. It was not a pleasant conversation when they told me this. (I don't think so, buddy!) Made them give me a promise in writing if they wrecked it, they bought it.
I thought this was an aberration,(it IS very crowded there) but looking at other RV parks' websites, I am noticing many of them say they will park your RV. It's one thing if they offer this as an option, quite another if they make you let them park your rig.
as a highly paid rally greeter, i valet for folks at our rallys all the time; usually for less than a bottle of Patron, and a good pass at the fridge...

And they know you, and that you are a pro. If it were a tough place to park, I'd even make you a mudslide that would knock your socks off. I am just having visions of a repeat of "the little tractor that (almost) didn't" when it happened to me.

mr lander,
please don't wait for a tough park to ply me w/ adult beverages (mudslides, visions of the beach on guam, palms UP), you just never know when i might come in handy...

I'd sure want to get there early in the day if you were getting (& drinking) a bottle of Patron per vehicle parked!

I have spent to much time and money to let some bozzo, dent or scratch my baby. It's either I park it or we find some other place to stay. Even if it's a Wal-Mart parking lot.

I am a newbie to trailering - just decided to put a hitch on the 84 Ford wagon which will be my first tow vehicle ever for our first trailer. In that I have very little experience, I think I would welcome the help. Once I have a few months practice I might have a different mind set. I can understand you experienced guys and gals being very upset by these kinds of rules.

I personally would have no problem with it being optional, or even mandatory they watched you park, to keep damages down. It could help if it was a tight spot, or at night, or if you had not done it a gazillion times.
Maybe the campground in question was trying to bring back the olden days as represented in "The Long, Long Trailer"?!? But in today's world, I just don't think this is going to catch on. Pete doesn't use valet, ever, even if we have to trudge for blocks and one of us is wearing high heels! I voted NO in the poll.
I guess in some cases it would be beneficial...newbies..older folk or someone without a spotter. I for one wish my PO had used a parker...would'nt have so many bumps and bruises.
This past weekend while staying at a RI SP the rangers went around putting tickets on peoples windows if they were parked anywhere on the grass other than the paved pull through site. Maybe it's the irresponsibility of people and how they set up that is leading to this trend. There is nothing like a well manicured campground. This place we stayed at was very well kept and you could tell they wanted to keep it that way...
I guess if it were mandatory we wouldn't have an option. I'd allow it if I really wanted to stay in a particular campground....
