We might be a bit crazy, but:
We've de-winterized and are heading over the the Oregon coast this weekend, camping at Heceta Head.... it will most certainly rain off and on but the beach is nice in (almost) any weather!
Cabin fever... we just can't wait any longer!

I hear ya. Our first trip is coming up in 5 weeks (Casini Ranch forum Ralley) . I'm like a kid in a candy store. Always saying is it time yet.... On the other hand, once it stops raining I can get back to polishing. Have fun...

Sounds prefectly reasonable to me...We love cold weather tripping and routinely take "Off Season" runs to the NC mountains. Rain or shine sometimes you just gotta getaway, and it sounds like you're set for a good time no matter what the weather!!!

The Oregon beach is cold, windy, and rainy no matter when you go, so to me March is as good a time as any! I'm jealous, I wish we could head out this weekend!

Enjoy the trip! Cabin fever setting in here too I almost hooked up the popup and headed for the lake. Don't want to risk de-winterizing it quite yet, so it would have been a dry camp. But still better than nothing. FWIW we are supposed to hit near 80* tommorow! and that is after lows in the teens earlier this week, plus the snow we had on Monday.

Ahhh.... Death Valley in 6 days and I KNOW it will not be cold there. That Titus Canyon tour we were going on in Febuary was rescheduled for the 14th of March. So we will be there but we also have to de-winter Buttercup for the trip.
BTW - there is room for more if anybody is interested...

Not crazy. Heck, I bicycle camped down the Oregon coast during the month of February several years ago. I found it very mild and pleasant.

Have fun! If our taxes were done I'd have hubby hook up the Bambi and join in! Heceta Head is a lovely area ~ and Steph is right, it always rains on the coast in Oregon, doesn't matter what time of year. You might even hit a good day!

We're home! This was one crazy weekend: sunny Friday when we left.... we had a great campfire after setting up at Carl Washburne State Park. I heard the rain start in the night, Saturday was rainy then clear, then rainy and we had a light hailstorm that night. This morning we wake up to sun and some clouds... then more hail and SNOW!
But the Oregon beach is amazing, uncrowded, and we even saw - sadly, a
"freshly" beached fin whale at the cove beneath the Heceta Head Lighthouse. What an awesome creature to see up close, I've never seen that before and hope never to again.
Next trip is in just three weeks!
No other Airstreams sighted this weekend...
