Warm place to take teenagers for Spring Break
From Michigan.
Looking for ideas on where to take 3 teenagers, 16, 16 and 18, first week of April, there only requirements are someplace warm and a place to swim.
Kids are thinking Alabama or Mississippi, I am open to anywhere and like places off the beaten path.
All suggestion appreciated,
Bruce

School spring break in this area is the first week of April and a lot of people go to the Florida panhandle. When our kids were younger we used to go instead to the Tampa/Sarasota area as it is warmer that time of the year. Sometimes it could be in the 60 s on the panhandle which was a little to cold for us to do the beach. This is a busy week in Fl but if that's what you decide to do and you want to stay in a state park, keep checking for cancellations. FL state parks are very, very nice.

Try camp gulf at Miramar Beach, Fl(Destin). Fantastic campground directly on the Gulf of Mexico.

Our spring break (Mississippi) was last week, so the campgrounds will not be full like they were last week.

Bruce,
First off, I am wildly impressed that three teenagers want to spend a week with you. Way to go!
Seriously, Karen is right about the Tampa area and the FL state parks.
Some years ago, and this was not spring break but the Thanksgiving week break, we spent (on 2 different trips) a week at Big Bend NP in Texas and a week in Death Valley (CA). Wouldn't consider them exactly swimming places, but they were off the beaten path, and our kids still talk about those trips. Really cool.

Mall of America in Minneapolis is the closest warmest place for you, cheaper too.

Alabama has a good state park in the Gulf Shores area, pool may not be open yet but you could check.
Also, check and see if the Ship Island Ferry has started it's season yet. If so, you can select a Mississippi gulf area and take a ferry ride to Ship island for clean water.
