Ward Charcoal Ovens State Historic Park near Ely, NV is a gem that isn't listed in most directories. There is a outdated description at Nevada Division of State Parks - Ward Charcoal Ovens State Historic Park
. We overnighted there in October 2010, had the campground to ourselves, and found the facilities to have been recently completely renovated. The sites, picnic tables, shelters and restrooms were all new. No hookups, but water available from hydrants near the sites. Access out of Ely involves about 10 miles of dirt road with some washboard, but we went in with our former trailer (Casita) with no problems other than dust on the exterior. Being far enough from Ely to avoid light pollution, the stargazing was spectacular. The Charcoal Ovens are worth a visit and there are nice hiking trails.
