Visiting Yosemite

Planning on taking granddaughters to Yosemite in mid-June and staying at a park near Groveland. I know they struggled there with the fire last summer. Anyone know how things are now?

Groveland escaped the fire, but much of the area around there was burned. This was the Rim Fire in 2013. Not sure exactly where you're staying and where it's located in relation to the fire. But, if you contact them they should be able to say how/if the fire affected them. Since the fire there has been some recovery of plant and wildlife. But, California's drought has also adversely impacted the area. And, it will be many years before the area once again has the large trees it had before the fire. Most of Yosemite was unaffected and it's one of this country's most beautiful national parks. If you have time while you're there, visit Glacier Point in addition to Yosemite Valley.

We stayed at Yosemite Lakes a Thousand Trails Park just outside of Groveland and only a few miles from the North Entrance. We had a very nice stay but we are members (Zone Pass only) so it was an inexpensive stay for us. It is open to the public as well but not on the side of the creek last we were there. Nice old style camping with full hook-ups (30 Amp), we were in our Motorhome at the time.
Next time I would like to try Dry-Camping in the park.
