The first thing that popped into my head was the music from "Close Encounters of the Third Kind".

Susan and I would love to go there and have called the campground. They say they have NO connections of any kind. No water, no electric, no nuttin'. Can you confirm that? We're not set up for dry camping (yet).

Did you see the Elk?

There are no hook ups. They have bathrooms that are kept clean and a bathhouse with plenty of hot water. However, they offer the most spectacular mountain views that we have seen. We did see the elk, twice. The sites are not too close and it is a wonderfully quiet place. They also have a pot luck every Thursday evening which is a lot of fun. Also, wonderfully cool temperatures during hot weather.

All you need is a full tank of water empty holding tanks and restraint.... Oh and a small generator if you're going to be staying in one place very long.

Mark,
The path not taken is the one I'm on...

If you can or get the chance since your in the Great Commonwealth of Kentucky try Nolin Lake State Park campground. It's a small campground with wide sites at the lakes edge. Nice and quiet. Online Lake state park is not to be confused with the Nolin Lake Corp of Engineers campground. Enjoy.

Next time I'm in Kentucky I'll look it up. Kentucky has really nice state parks.

Best part about Kentucky state parks, unlike Indiana, is that there is no charge to get into the parks. Also try My Old Kentucky Home state park. It's in Bardstown KY (Voted Best Small Town in America). The sites are small, very few have full hook-up, but your close to quite a number of the Bourbon distilleries if you would like to see how Bourbon is made. The campground in right next to a beautiful golf course.
