If you decide to go there, be sure to come south from Blairsville. Don't try to pull your trailer over Blood Mtn (Hwy 19/129N).

In the winter, the sound of running water can also be heard from frozen and then broken water lines in the trailer......

As a Floridian, we've never camped in any REAL cold. We always get by with just a space heater when it dips below 60. We'd like to go see snow around Christmas. Do I need to know anything special if we want to take our '75 Overlander up into the mountains? I always see people "winterizing" their campers and storing them for winter. Is there some reason we shouldn't camp in the winter?

While in Ga, we had temps below freezing several nights. We just kept the furnace set to come on about 50 degrees and we were quite comfortable all night. Your space heater will help as well, but might keep the furnace from coming on risking your tanks to freezing temperatures.

No need to winterize if there is no chance of pipes or valves or tanks freezing-

Ok. I am intimidated. I'm afraid of furnaces-I've never had one and worry about gassing us all-and I didn't think about tanks or valves freezing. I was just thinking we could run the water for the pipes. If it's below freezing, what do I do about the tanks and valves? We really are hoping to be in the snow?

From living in a mobile home in the mid-west winters nearly 50 years ago...

Probably one of the most overlooked things is taking a heat tape for the water line if one hooks up to an external water supply in cold temps. If the hose freezes, that temp will work into the trailer water system and the sound of running water will be inside the trailer... instead of the creek bed outside.

Sure would like to be camping there right now instead of being here in this cold rainy Kentucky weather. Enjoy.

Made reservation 11 months in advance, we also stayed at Bahia Honda SP and I liked that even better.
