On our way to Lafayette, Louisiana then east across the Gulf Coast to Jeckyl Island, then Florida. We are trying to escape the cold up north. So far we are meeting with limited success at escaping the cold!

If you get a chance, stay a night at A+ RV Park in Sulphur, LA. It is a top-notch park owned by a friend.

I went to DC last week to spend some time with our daughter and camped at a wonderful campground that was only 12 miles from the Washington Monument and museums. The campground was Greenbelt Park, a national park service campground, no hookups, but the cost for those with a senior pass, was only $8/night. No reservations necessary as the campground does not ever seem to be filled up. It was a great place to camp. Access to DC was pretty easy, just take the Baltimore-Washington Parkway to 295 to 395/695 and take the Maine Avenue exit and park at the Tidal Basin parking lot which is just a short walk to the Washington Monument.

Touring Dan that's a great referral for the DC area Campground. DC is on our general travel bucket list and now it seems we want to do all our drivable travel in the Stream's. Now to remember it when that trip comes.

Not the front door view because the husband was cold and wouldn't let me leave the door open enough to get a picture. But a lovely view of the frost covered field which is also my Dad's front yard in Marianna, FL outside Tallahassee, FL. Love being able to "camp" near family.

Pharm, you are not far from my favourite camping spot on St. George Island, a few miles past Appalachacola. You should check it out since you are so close, even if it is just to try some of the oysters from the "Last Great Bay". We also loved our time spent at the park near Port St. Joe. You are not far from where Moosetags hangs his hat. We will miss you by a few weeks since we normally stop by before Christmas. Few around the area at that time. Jim

This is the Aurora Borealis, best viewed much closer to the North Pole, in Alaska, the Yukon, the Northwest Territories, Iceland, etc. I do believe that is a picture of one of the spirals in the the Milky Way. Click image for larger version

It is not light from stars in the Milky Way - as I recall it is from solar radiation exciting the atmospheric gasses - or some such thing

It does a similar thing if I recall to comets - the long tails of comets are simply just a tiny trail of gas excited by the sun's solar winds

Or something along those lines

Beautiful shots!!!

Correct, the shot I referenced was in post 710. That is one of the spiral arms of the Milky Way, not the pictures I posted 😊 hopefully I did not miss lead anyone.
Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving !

Vogel State Park in Georgia. Man was it cold. We had a nice spot backed up to a running mountain stream. So nice to sleep with the sound of running water. Great park. We were in site 57.
