Battle Run COE Campground, Summersville WV. Electric only 50 Amp service. Nice campground. Lots of lakefront sites.

Hi Beach Bum, thanks for posting that lovely site pic. It's too bad that they don't allow pets; we do board our boy (standard size Goldendoodle), but we would really like to start taking him more.
I visited the site, as well as read some other posts on Battle Run COE campground, and found that it is more often than not necessary to make reservations well in advance. If you didn't do that, you're very lucky to have gotten a site on the water. Did you place your reservation early?
I'm also wondering if you've stayed at other COE campgrounds in West Virginia? If so, are there any you would say are as nice as Battle Run?
Thank you in advance.
Deb

Hi Deb,
We made our reservations about 2 months before. It's a popular CG with the locals.
There is a COE CG Bullrun about ten miles from flatwoods. We like it there as well. It has some full hookup sites and has two loops that allow pets and two that do not. The down side or the up side is there is zipo internet or cell service with Verizon. We snagged a water front site there as well. There is also one by the Burnsville dam not sure about pets and no water front sites.
Army COE CG's are our first choice when we can get them.
Hope that helps.

Speaking of "remote" campsites in the SouthEast.......
Have any of y'all stayed here: MCH Home Page
I gotta go to this place. Basically electric and water. Looks like a great "July" destination when the weather is hot around here.

Springfield is a great campground. We were there last weekend on site 42 I think. Well maintained campground. Go into Anderson and enjoy some pompous pig BBQ. They use a pretzel bun with their BBQ. Award winning BBQ .

I could not agree more. We just returned from camping at North Bend Park on Kerr Lake in southern Virginia. They have 250 great sites. My wife wanted elect and water so we were not lakefront, but they have lots of boondocking waterfront sites open, even on the weekends (section d).
Photo is during a gully washer. Dinner on the grill was very good! The plastic rug could have floated away had it not been held down by the grill. Tight Airstream thank god.
