Has someone here driven US Hwy 212 through Southeastern Montana?
I'm am interested in opinions. It looks pretty barren and sparsely populated.
Google Maps wants me to take that Hwy to avoid the swoop south in I-90.
Google says it is an hour shorter.
I have been over that route a couple of times.
As you said it is barren, sparse - prairie.
It has been a few years but the the road was good and it is shorter than I-90.
More scenery along I-90 though I really do like the prairie.

This past July traveling from Miles City, MT. to Spearfish, SD we were on 212. No problem at all. Make sure you are good with fuel. I had a couple of close calls with the fuel. Some small towns have no gas stations.
