Unusual RV park

Seven miles south of Eureka Springs, AR, on US 23, we found an animal rescue center that has about 125 big cats of all descriptions. It is heartbreaking to see what damage people do to those big animals, including breaking teeth off with pliers to make the "tamer". It is a great place just to visit and see the animals, but we found that they have a special perk.

They have about 8 full-hookup RV spots in close proximity to the animal habitatss where you can hear the big cats calling at night. At any time, about 1/3 of the cats are free to roam in giant cages. Not only is it a great thing to support their mission, but where else can you go on a safari in your Airstream?

Our trip this time didn't allow us time to spend the night, but we intend to stop overnight on our next trip to Eureka Springs, probably next year. I wonder what out two cats will think when the lions start calling at night.

Thanks for the tip. We'll add that one to our list to try sometime since it's not too far from DFW.

By the way

Not all big corporations are heartless.

Tyson donates many tons of chicken to the rescue center. It takes about $2000 a year per big cat for food, veternary, and housing. If it were not for Tyson, these folks would be out of business.

So, in essence you're saying that some of us can literally go on a safari in a Safari. Cool.

Thanks for the heads up.
We're planning to camp at Beaver Lake in mid Oct. with two other couples.
We'll check out the animal rescue center while we're there.
