Heck, my pump and lines rattle so much I could probably hear it in the truck while towing...they will 100% wake me up at night.
I seldom hook to the city water in a campground, just add water to the tank.
Learned years ago during my boating days. A city water supply and a leak will sink a boat.

Good measure to leave water pump off when not in use, and turning off city water connection when leaving the AS or while sleeping. We keep our water tank filled for night use, and it’s nice to use for showers because it’s softened water. We installed an accumulator with the water pump and replaced the Pex with flexible food grade hoses so using the water pump at night is very quiet. We also turn off the toilet water valve when in transport, whenever we leave the AS or in storage...just in case. Good idea to place the shower head on the shower floor during travels in case the shower head falls off its wall mount (yes, we drive on California roads). Also set the shower head pause button to “pause”. The handset can possibly hit the shower handle to “on” but also avoids a broken shower head and cracked shower pan unless you have a teak shower mat...ask me how I know![emoji4]

We do the same: pump off when not in use and city water off when we remember to do so just before leaving.
On the other hand, when I was winterizing a few weeks ago after returning from Florida, I forgot to turn the pump off after purging the system. Went out the next AM and heard the pump running dry. So, I am eager to see what happens when I pick up the trailer again next week. My service tech told me it is probably OK. We shall see!

Absolutely! Got this idea from the marine industry. Changing out the Pex definitely helped to minimize vibration, and no more water pump cycling in the middle of the night because of the accumulator. It’s a good night’s sleep![emoji99]

X2. We never use city water except to refill fresh water tank.

Check list
We just bought a new Flying Cloud 30RB and there is a pre-travel checklist in the user manual. The first item on the check list is "Turn off the water pump switch."

Lots of great tips here. Thanks for posting klstraka. We too have had the problem. Now we have a checklist next to the door including:
1. Turn off the pump, remove sink drain and place a rubber band around the faucet and handle. I need to do the other suggestions:
2. Soften pump sounds: replacing PEX with food-grade hoses, cushion under the pump and install an accumulator.
3. Nomad's recommendation when washing hands, pressurize system, then turn pump off and wash hands. It's too easy to forget when making a quick stop while traveling.
4. Turn shower head to low output
5. Turn off city water when not in use, or don't connect it. (I treat electric the same way)

Pump and gets turned off:
- Going down the road
- Leaving the trailer unattended for any length of time. This is also done with the city water hookup.
Those of you who have rattling pipes or noisy pumps need to get the air purged from the lines, get and accumulator and insulate the piping and pump. I barely hear the pump in our trailer.
It seems silly though to turn the pump off and on while you are camping and using the on board water. At home we have a cistern pump we don't flip a switch each time we need water. It does get turned off if we are away from the house for a few days.
