Huge park, lots of privacy, water & power, dump station at exit. $20.00 a night, 14 day stay. Very cool.

It's also very close to town..with the recent growth of NW Tucson you are literally minutes from shopping, gas, groceries, etc...though you'd never know it while in the park itself. Haven't been there with the AS yet, but we did go there with our small motor home several years ago... We should do that this winter! Here's a link: http://azstateparks.com/Parks/CATA/index.html

We stayed there for a while a couple of weeks ago. There's a new shopping center across the street. Super Wal-mart & olive Garden were our favorite stoers there.

Sounds like it might be a good site for a future 4CU rally. It says they have a group camping area...

Rally points to ponder

The group area has no hookups. You will have use of dump station & water access when using the group area. Individual sites have water & power but still must use dump station. There are no revervations allowed for sites. You can't get there early to "hold" a site for your friend. The sites are choosen by the camper but given out on 1st come, 1st serve basis. The park fills up starting early January, so Oct. thru Nov. would be the best time for a rally. About 1/2 sites are open on weekends & 3/4 on weekdays. Best bet is to have the first person on arrival pay for all sites to be used. Doing this on a weekday will asure that they can get more sites together. That way they can grab the amount of sites needed in the same area. There are no large buildings for meetings but the shower buildings in loop B are awesome. Also no laundry on the grounds. Loop B is the larger loop with 74 sites. There are wonderful hiking trails & a horse corral. There are no rings for campfiers. No wood fires are allowed there. You can burn charcoal of Duraflame type logs in the ground's cookers or bring your own campfire device. It must be 1' above the ground with a spark arresting screen covering the opening. The group area does have 1 community ring & allows wood burning. AS'ers with pet should bring tweezers to pull the pokies out from between the pads on their paws. This knowledge comes from being a campground host's cleaning assistant from late Sept. till mid Nov.

That is true in most low desert campgrounds; we use the zircon-encrusted model invented by Frank Zappa.

We are 30 miles North of Tucson at Picacho State Park and it is cool and wet here right now. The weather up until today was great!

Rained this morning here in Ajo, still grey, but clearing. You can imagine me sneaking up on that Bambi to see if it was our stolen coach.
