Trip to Port Townsend, WA

My wife and I spent the last week in Port Townsend, WA. It was great. We were camped in the Point Hudson (Port of Port Townsend) campground. For most of the week, we were alone in our part of the campground - the beauty of camping in the "off season." We went for long walks around town and walked the beach over to Fort Warden State Park.

From our trailer we could see from north of Mt. Baker, south to the Cascade range, then to Mt. Rainier (between Marrowstone Island and Indian Island), and to the west we could see the Olympic mountains (and the town of Port Townsend). Great views. We took a day trip to Whidbey Island on the ferry and walked around Fort Casey. We even witnessed the Coast Guard in training.

The weather was a bit rainy early in the week then quite windy on Tuesday and it slowly got nicer with great sunshine at the end of the week (but still a bit chilly). Near the end of the week another Airstream came in, I think it was a 25 foot Classic, then a 345 Motorhome came in for the weekend. Three Airstreams in a campground with only a couple of handsfull of trailers!!

Port Townsend is beautiful. Many years ago there was talk of it becoming another Seattle. When the timber industry was hot and heavy. We live a few miles away in Gig Harbor and visit often.
Best,
Dan

I don't have the details, but there is an Airstream rv campground at the south end of the bay, somewhere near Olympia or Tumwater. I've only seen the ads but plan to check it out when we get up there later this year to visit my brother in Oly.

Beautiful. We purchased our AS used from a gentlemen in Port Townsend and thoroughly enjoyed our visit and plan to return.

Washington Landyacht Harbor

Here is the website: Home

Folks are very friendly and they have a volunteer staff. It is a big gravel parking lot with full hookups.....no laundry.....price is right.....folks live in mobile homes inside the park......have to belong to the WBCCI to live there.....it is well situated in Olympia.....don't fret if they don't answer the phone or email right away.....

One of our favorite places. We typically stay at Fort Worden on the west side of Port Townsend, where An Officer And A Gentleman was filmed.

Glad to hear your weather cleared up. Even when it is raining it is a fun place to be.
