Trip Report

Well, we just got back from a 4 night trip in the ol' Airstream.

We went to Betabel RV Resort just outside of Gilroy, CA. Very nice, clean place. Even had cable hookups

We had a good time going to Bonfante Gardens and Monterey Bay Aquarium.

The trailer did fine. It was 100 degree heat wave going on so we were glad to have the new Penquin A/C to keep us cool.

The new Dometic fridge did fine, left it on gas on the max temp setting to help keep up with the heat.

The trailer does get mighty small with two adults, a teenager, and a 16 month old We always seem to be moving something around to get it out of the way for something else.... maybe I need a fifth-wheel with triple slides?

I got to use my new tow vehicle a 2001 Chevy Silverado 2500HD. I picked it up used this spring. It towed like a dream.

I also found out if you jack knife when your backing in, the trucks tail light can make contact with the trailer! Lucky not much damage execpt my pride. It was good entertainment for the neighbors as they offered some free advice the next day

Out of place

Think we were a little out of place with all these fifth-wheels around

Gilroy is a really nice area. Did you stop at LJB Farms Farm Market? Nice little market, they roast their own chiles and sell them there. Garlic Festival is coming up in July. I missed it by a day, last time I was there in '96.

Nice tow vehicle! I think that is my next one!

I remember backing into one of my first sites with a 22' Wilderness years ago. I came in from the wrong direction and tried backing it in from the blind side. Needless to say it was a struggle and I couldn't figure out why until a seasoned RV'er came over and helped me out. Good thing my first trailer wasn't an Airstream, I really beat that thing up, tree limbs, mailboxes, water filled and wind damaged awnings, etc., etc.,

We missed the market

We just hit up the Bonfante Gardens with the kids a couple of times since we accidently got season passes. We also went down to Monterey for a day. It was a good location to hit the areas we wanted.

I like the truck. It tows the trailer really well. I had to replace my Ford Expedition with the 4.6L because it was not up to the task
