Trip Planning Tools

Best trip planning tools to include apps, software and maps.

So far I use Next Exit and old style large print maps in conjunction with Google map.

On the app store I have seen both Iexit and Next Exit.

Any recommendations on these apps?

Road Trip Planner - Mac

I use Road Trip Planner on my MacBook Air. You plan a trip by using a contact or by searching for a point of interest to create a pin. The software uses Apple Maps to plan a route (usually three choices are presented for each segment.) The app calculates distance and time (based on your preferred speed, not the default map calculation) for each route segment. It will calculate fuel costs and other trip costs that you list.

The developer is constantly making improvements and is happy to take suggestions. There is also an IOS version for your iPhone that uses trip files that were created on your Mac.

Here is an example of a trip I am planning for next May.

If only I was an Apple Mac user. Everyone in my family uses one except me.
