Going back in time to post photos

We took the night ferry from Port Au Basque and these guys rolled up next to us in the staging area. They had just gotten off the T'Trail after spending a little, over a week traveling the entire length. They gave me many tips for my next trip!

Please excuse the poor quality of the photo.

We were the first vehicle off the ferry, then enroute to Louisbourg.

While hiking near our campground at Broad Cove near Ingonish, this guy shadowed us for about twenty minutes before jogging off.

This scenic view of route 19 along Cape Breton has been posted before on the forums by others who travelled before...here is my version. We are headed south.

Just got your note. Lots of rain last night. It felt like Saint John. It would have been great to say hello. We do this 3 or 4 times a year on our way to visit family in Fort Lauderdale so we will make a point of having a future rendezvous. We are actually staying in a campground tonight in St Augustine. Rare for us on this trip but it turned hot and we wanted Air. Taking us longer than the usual 2.5 days. I am looking forward to the time when it will take weeks. Next year. Jim

This is the Confederation Bridge from PEI to NB. I think it is 17 KM long, two lane. The cost was $60 CD. Keep in mind that you only pay when you leave PEI, and the bridge is the less expensive option.

The photo was taken on the NB side.

Jim, sent you an email.

We took the ferry to Deer Island and then caught the last ferry of the season to Campobella Island. The Deer island ferry was free and the Campobella ferry was $60 CD. Both crossing were at low, or near low tide. Leaving the ferry at Campobella, thankfully the ramp was soft gravel/pebbles/dirt, as our rear end of the trailer drug a good bit. Don't have a photo of the Campobella ferry, but similar, just smaller than this one to Deer Island.

We got home several days ago. Got the trailer all cleaned up and waiting for a wax job....truck is still a mess.

We must have taken close to 5,000 photos on this trip. We travelled just over 13,000 miles. Had to cut off early as our very close friends are moving and we wanted to spend some time with them before they depart.

It was a fantastic trip and I hope we will do it again in the next couple years. Time for me to close this out. Thanks again to all of you who helped with our planning and sharing your experiences. All I can say is you have got to go up there and see for yourself.

Silver Eagle thx for taking us all along. Looks like home is an equally beautiful spot on a lake and all.

It is actually 12.9 km (8 miles) long. If you take the bridge onto the island and then take the ferry off you only pay then as well. It is a bit more expensive. I think it was $98 the last time I took it in 2011. But it is well worth the extra money if you're heading to Nova Scotia after that. I cuts out a 3 hour drive. At least it did in my case.

Thanks for the trip. Trying to convince Barb to go to NF next year, but it is 7,000 miles round trip just to get to and leave NF. That's 250 miles a day if you travel every day, and we wouldn't, so it would be more with some rest days out of 14 days each way. That means sore butts, tired arms holding the wheel, fighting traffic in the northeast. Maybe it will all look better by January.

Loved following your trip!! And hey, didn't I warn you about the ferry to/from Campobella Island??!!! We actually broke a piece off the bottom of our Interstate getting on that ferry. Whatever it was, we didn't seem to need it....haha!!

Weird, an Interstate would be easier to drive cross country than a full sized truck and trailer. Last night I did a quick mileage check and it was 3,100 miles to the ferry, not 3,500 (800 miles less round trip).

Hey Gene how about a good old fashioned kitchen party when you arrive? Maybe that will sweeten the deal for your better half?
